Good flick. As OP stated, a slow burn, but well acted with interesting twists and turns. I recognized several actors, but only a couple are "known." There are definitely worse ways to spend two hours.

Finally watched this last night and... So. Much. Death.

Probably more death in this film than even your average slasher flick. And I almost turned it off halfway through due to how utterly bleak, depressing, and disjointed it was. That said...

I'm glad I stuck with it.

Because, as the OP mentioned, it all comes together nicely in the final act. It's also beautifully shot and there are some pretty good performances throughout, especially from Tom Holland, who I now want to see in more serious roles like this. Even Robert Pattinson's accent - which I had made fun of from an earlier clip - worked in context, and he does a great job as well.

I almost never enjoy voice over, as it so often feels like a crutch, and I still didn't particularly like it here, but it was also cool that the author of the book provided it - he has the perfect voice for this - and it didn't detract too much.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. If you can get past all the death and depression, it's definitely a worthy, uniquely-told film that I recommend giving a shot.

Decent flick.

I actually thought it was going to be revealed that the kid killed his dad and it wasn't actually a suicide

Slow paced but overall worth a watch.
