Respectfully disagree. Miley's version is a credible cover, but it lacks the signature quality that made people either love or hate The Cranberries, her Irish almost-yodel singing style she layered into her songs. Cyrus is giving you an angry rocker shouting style whereas O'Riordan gave you the vibe of an Irish angel who had been hurt and was actually very pissed about it.Walt Luddiger said:

Miley Cyrus has always had a good voice, she just decided to go wacko. Personally, I thought the cover was good, but a little American Idolish.
Miley needs to put the work in with an actual group of her own and create some original music. She can be good covering someone else music or doing cheesy top 40 "originals".
I think she likes being famous and enjoying the celebrity life too much to be a true, original artist. I wish she would forgo that and see what she could actually do if she got dirty really trying to make something.

She winds up getting a lot of attention on these high profile covers but she also releases a steady amount of original music. She released two EP's last year and has an album coming out this year so I don't know what you mean.Gap said:

It's interesting though how the country twang has some resonance with an Irish accent. It's a good cover.

Meh. I didn't hear anything really original in that cover. There are probably hundreds of bands doing the same cover every weekend. She wasn't awful, but I hardly think that should be the bar.
i prefer this cover of Jolene. Nothing against Miley's versions of either song.
Even though she is about ten shades of Bat Crazy, she is definitely talented.

her interview on joe rogan was enjoyable. she's definitely a wacky person, but not as BSC as you'd think based on her history and fame.
