My parents took me to see her in the late 70's. She is insanely talented.

Dolly is not only an ambassador for country music...but American music in general. She might be the most universally loved artist of all time...adored by all ages on both sides of the spectrum.

She speaks her mind but shows love and kindness to all...all while being pretty open about her faith, which doesn't usually attract positive attention from mainstream artists. But because she's so revered and respected, no one touches her.

She's teflon. There will never be another like her.

I mean sure she has made some magical music, done more to advance childhood literacy more than any other single person, has a delightful personality but she is certain no Unknown Hinson.

Years ago a friend of mine was living somewhere near where Dolly was, and was listening to the radio. Announcer came on and said that Dolly was looking to spend Christmas with a few friends, so the first 25 people or whatever it was were invited to her house for Christmas dinner the next day. She hosted them all, was genuinely nice. My friend always loved her for that.

I'm a pretty hardcore metalhead. I adore Dolly Parton. One of the greatest musicians, and people in general, to have ever walked this earth.

She is indeed, a national treasure and must be protected at all costs.

Go see Dollywood in the Gatlinburg area. She has made the nicest small amusement park in America. And her impact on that community in which she lived and lives is everywhere.

Amazing women. She still shows up unannounced to Dollywood all the time.

Yep. We went to Dollywood a few years ago while visiting my brother in Tennessee. I wasn't expecting much, but for a family park, it's pretty nice. Lots of good stuff for the kids, and some of the rides were pretty wild. Friendly staff, too.

Saw her at her only HLSR appearance in 1978. Fantastic.

I wish she was in more movies. IMO, she was the highlight of Steel Magnolias, which is amazing with a cast of Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis.
