I said in another thread a while back that so much of the premise of the movie is based on the fact that the characters struggle to figure out what to do when their flight is cancelled. They don't have instant communication, cell phones, text messaging, data, etc., and that lack of information/having to figure out WTF to do next is a big part of what drives the conflict and humor in the movie.
I just don't see how a remake could tap into that.

I guess, but what are the chances that both of them
lose their phones (and don't have a laptop, iPad, or other secondary device) and they don't come into contact with anyone else who will let them borrow one?
Traveling today is just so much different than traveling in 1886-87. The entire premise of the movie seems like a stretch in this day and age. The scenes at the beginning of the movie that involve fighting over the cab just wouldn't happen today.
Heck, the scenes with the rental car are that much funnier because it was that old-style, wood paneled convertible. A Hyundai Elantra or a Toyota Corolla would not have the same effect.
But maybe the film makers will come up with something creative.
But nowhere near "classic" level.Philo B 93 said:
An original "remake" was already done with Due Date. That movie worked, and it was funny.

I despise the idea of a remake. The only way it would maybe work would be to have it set in the 80s, which takes care of all of the modern tech and travel issues.
And we ALREADY have the 80s version.

Here's my problem with Planes Trains. I've watched it every Thanksgiving for decades. It's a tradition I love, but it has a huge Wooderson effect. "I keep getting older, they stay the same age". It used to be a funny show about old people having funny problems. Now I see young man dealing with corporate hassles, trying to get home to his cute young kids and hot 30-something wife.
Just add "Angels in the Outfield"HtownAg92 said:Christopher Lloyd - The Addams Family --> Leah Thompson - Back to the Future --> Tom Cruise - All the Right Moves --> Kevin Bacon - A Few Good MenBrian Earl Spilner said:Raul JuliaMSFC Aggie said:
