I was watching the Santa Clause with my kids the other night and noticed something peculiar. In the scene when Tim Allen goes to his kids school for career day, there is an elf in the classroom. He was sitting right behind Charlie. I first noticed him when Charlie says his dad is Santa Clause and all the kids laugh at him. This kid didn't move and didn't laugh at all.

Then a few moments later Charlie goes to his seat (maybe to get the snow globe, I can't remember). And you see a shot of that kids ear in the lower corner of the screen and it looks like an elf ear.

We didn't finish the movie that night but from what I remember I don't think it's ever addressed in the movie.

Has anyone noticed this? Is this common knowledge, maybe an easter egg in the movie that I was never aware of?

Did he have attitude?

It's something I've noticed rewatching while older as well (never caught watching as a kid). Anytime there are kids, there's an elf keeping tabs on him. You can see one when he's at Charlie's soccer game as well.

Maybe they double used some of the kids who played elves as normal kids as well so as to not hire more kid actors than necessary.. and forgot to take off his elf ears?

You see them randomly throughout the movie. Checking to see who is naughty or nice.
