2020 has been Hell on country music. Joe Diffie, Kenny Rogers, John Prine, Justin Townes Earle, Charlie Daniels, Jerry Jeff Walker, Harold Reid, Mac Davis, Johnny Bush, Billy Joe Shaver, Bill Mack (wrote Blue), Larry Johnson (co-wrote Don't take the girl), Jimmy Capps (grand Ole Opry house band member) Paul English (willie's drummer), Ed Setser (wrote Seven Spanish Angles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band members Chris Darrow and Bill McEuen, and Troy James (wrote People are Crazy and I'm Pretty Good at Drinking Beer). Hal Ketchum, Hank Jr.'s daughter died. Reba, Martina McBride, and Jo Dee Messina all lost their mothers in 2020. There's an awful lot of good country music in Heaven just from this year.

I used to use his songs in class to teach poetry.

The refrains were perfect.

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform at the Grand Ole Opry in the Summer of 2008. I will cherish that memory forever.

I remember listening to this song in the barn when I was a kid milking cows and cleaning stalls. Dad and I both liked Charlie Pride.
