Seems like an especially tough year for entertainment/sports/broadcaster/celeb deaths. I guess just so many this year seem to be people I really idolized. I knew it was going to be a bad year when my absolute #1 idol (as a drummer) Neil Peart died in early January.

Sorry for the thread bump, but these two hit me harder than any others last year. I've seen Power Trip live more than any other band (seemed like they were somehow on every metal bill) and they deserved all the accolades they got. Felt like they were right on the cusp of mainstream success which is insane to even think about.

I discovered Iron Age back in 2008 when The Sleeping Eye was released and it's a top 10 album for me. I stupidly skipped a chance to see them before they broke up (for a girl!) and then sorta saw an incarnation of them in 2015 on the pedestrian bridge at 3:00AM on the last day of SXSW before the cops broke things up.

Knowing I'll probably never get a chance to see either of those groups again is devastating. Both changed the TXHC and metal communities forever.

**** dude, really sorry for your personal loss too. I was just shocked to see someone here mention Wade and Iron Age.

I was never a part of the scene (and am now the guy people probably say is too old to be going to those shows) but I'm jealous. Guessing you have a lot of great memories and stories.
