First of two episodes available now.

Excellent. Very high production value in my eyes. Really gets into his rise to fame and some very intimate details of his upbringing specifically related to his dad Earl. The setup to part two done very well. So much so that I can't wait to see it Sunday night. From what they've shown us so far it looks like it'll be no holds barred when it comes to his somewhat dark times.

Yeah, this is really good. You know Tiger hates because it paints his dead father in a bad light. Who would want that out?

No doubt she does. But to claim she had all the wisdom and experience then that she does now seems a little farfetched to me. It's like the producers kept going back as far as they had to until they found someone who'd talk. His gf at the time he was an early pro would interesting to hear from. He dumped her not long before Elin.

The videos and pictures she shared with hbo were slightly cringe. I guess it's one thing to talk about things, just really weird to share those.

She totally comes off as the type of person where she likely tells everyone she meets that she dated tiger in high school

I thought it was a good first episode. It may not be a puff piece, but it does humanize Tiger a little bit. I feel like the audience might understand Tiger a little better after this show.

I really thought the end when they showed tiger talking with other players and actually smiling was pretty powerful.

What is wild is his persona and edge came from being totally messed up in the head. Almost disconnected from reality. That hyper focus was great for golf, not so great for everything else.

Great stuff and the story (if it's all to be believed) is tragic yet redemption filled. I think the one person I disliked was Bryant Gumbel. My goodness he's unbearable.

The Gumbel thing was garbage. I idolized tiger growing up. Thought he could do no wrong. When his personal life came to light, I couldn't help to be disappointed. After all, my entire childhood I was told how he was the best example of a person (by the media, not my parents). So how else was I supposed to feel? I didn't give a **** about his ancestry, it was that I thought so highly of him my entire life.

I thought the masters guy came off holier than thou, and it was unwarranted, but tiger was the face of golf. The other guys he mentioned combined were basically a supporting cast in comparison.

I agree that it wasn't necessary and was bull***** But I also don't think it was due to tigers race(s)

The bigger the stage the bigger the criticism

Yeah, the race angle was a bit of an eye roll. Maybe there were pockets of the country club crowd that were rooting against Tiger bc of race, but growing up, all of my friend's dads loved Tiger. White, black Hispanic. It didn't matter. Sunday afternoons were Tiger on TV destroying the competition. Half watching Tiger, half watching for his opponent to just completely fall apart. It seemed no one paired with Tiger on Sunday was able to do much.

yeah...watched part 1 and that stuck out to me. it's interesting seeing the news in the 90's and their approach to race which seemed fair and actually optimistic. speaking about how white america embraced him and was "thrilled with, and for, tiger woods."

those clips are intertwined with the current day journalists (si writer and gumble) calling that exuberance for a black man "a myth", etc. just highlights how divisive the press has become.

Yeah, that was crazy. Of course, she kept it all these years waiting for someone to ask, though. Ha

Really enjoyed both episodes. The commentary from Faldo, Mediate, and Williams was awesome. Sucks how things ended for Williams, but after a book deal and other partnerships, I'm sure he's doing just fine.
