I am very into podcasts and mostly listen to either true crime or comedy. Going to go down my list.
Tenfold More Wicked - Narrative nonfiction storytelling of historical true crime. Very good production and super captivating. The second season just started last week.
Jensen and Holes: The Murder Squad - Retired cold case investigator (who played a major role in catching GSK) and investigative journalist dig into recent unsolved murders, unidentified remains, and missing persons cases. They talk to the people involved and encourage citizen sleuthing, which has led to multiple cold cases being solved since they've started!
Criminal - About a wide variety of crime, from a wide variety of people. Those who've committed the crimes, victims, specialists, all sorts. Short episodes, 20-25 minutes each.
Forgotten: Women of Juarez - Investigative story about the hundreds of women who have gone missing in Ciudad Juarez. Not all the way through this one but enjoy it.
The Apology Line - New Wondery pod about a phone number that people in '70s NYC could call to apologize. Lots of real recordings, and narrated/told by the wife of Mr. Apology, the guy who started the line.
Death of a Starlet - Wondery podcast about the death of Playboy Bunny and 1980 Playmate of the Year Dorothy Stratten.
Do No Harm - Not really true crime but still a very good story. It's about how much CPS can change some families' lives. It takes place in Houston and some parts will have you on the edge of your seat.
Dr. Death - About how some doctors can hurt a whole lot more than they can help. Season 1 is about a neurosurgeon in the Dallas area, and Season 2 is about a doctor who diagnoses and treats cancer.
Tom Brown's Body - Texas Monthly podcast narrated by Skip Hollandsworth about a mysterious death of a high schooler in Canadian, Texas. Heartbreaking story and very well presented.
Man in the Window: The Golden State Killer - An investigative reporter's telling of the GSK. Bone-chilling to say the least. It also has episodes about the recent court proceedings of the case since the GSK was caught in 2018. I really appreciate that they're still adding to the story as events occur.
Winds of Change - This one somewhat missed the mark for me, but it was still interesting. This podcast investigates the potential connections between the metal ballad "Winds of Change" by the Scorpions, the CIA, and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Lots of conspiracy and talk with CIA agents.
