It's usually not a great sign. Not necessarily in terms of quality, but more that it's probably not tracking as well as Warner Bros. hoped, box-office-wise, so they're simply attempting to hook more people into seeing it by any means necessary. That said, given the unprecedented circumstances studios are currently in, and the fact that WB themselves are releasing this to HBO Max day-and-date, conventional methods/reasoning go out the window. So in this particular instance, who knows.
I've actually been seeing some fairly enthusiastic reviews/reactions online from people I wouldn't expect to even give this the time of day, and I myself have gone from "Hell no" to "You know what? I might actually check this out." All things considered, I bet it's a decent enough flick and does respectable numbers. I thought the opening sequence was actually pretty cool, and it piqued my interest a bit more, so it's at least doing its job.
