Google apparently knows I've been chatting about this movie, because they suggested this podcast review.

They pretty much nailed my feelings about the movie and its issues.

Thought the movie was kinda dumb and the writing was pretty mediocre. There were so many issues with the plot and it didnt feel believable at all. Also can you say sloppiest hit men ever? How can you botch 2 hits in one night?

Nonetheless, I found it very entertaining. Definitely a guilty pleasure movie. Pike's character was the most hatable protagonist I've seen in a long time.

Just powered thru this shiit. Dinklage was awesome as expected. Pike was good, such a despicable character. Her lez mate was awful and equally unlikeable. Story seemed like it was written by a couple sophomores at Vasser. Had a lot of potential, but ending was God awful other than the real hero (red hat) taking care of business.

I had never seen a film with Rosamund Pike in it.
Am I the only one who thinks she sounds just like Candace Bergen?

She was a Bond girl, played opposite Tom cruise, Owen Wilson among others. Surprised you haven't seen her.

As for the movie, much of it was contrived or over the top.

first, I understand the diamonds angle, but why wasn't the doctor the person they tried to coerce? Pike had zero say In her being released, she was there on Alicia Witt's orders - and then killing her so that she could never get out. Then the two botched hit jobs, and some woman taking down the Russian mob (including singlehandededly stopping the escape attempt) waking up with perfect clarity at the exact right time, all the stuff mentioned above about the car underwater, the judge never catching on to the scam and never even asking the impacted people to testify, Dianne's character acting all sweet and kind when she's taken out despite what we learn about her later etc. and oh by the way, a sequel wouldn't surprise me because they never confirmed she was dead.
All in all it wasn't terrible, just kinda lazy.

I thought the movie was awful. I couldn't make it past the scene after the car crash escape where she saves her girlfriend. I will give it props for being somewhat original: I've never seen a movie where two lead "I am woman hear me roar" actresses are portrayed as such awful, unlikeable people.

There was a point in the movie I wondered if the over-arching message was going to be "the lesbians win in the end"

Stealing your spoiler warning.

Watched last night and enjoyed it. For a while we thought they were suddenly trying to turn them into the protagonists - as if we were suddenly supposed to feel sorry for her and Francis. My wife and I keep repeating "I just want to see them physically tortured and begging for their lives to end quickly". DIdn't happen but the the final ending someone made up for it.

The first 30 minutes gave me anxiety - I was furious thinking of someone like that coming after my parents. I remember my dad saying they had a lot of trouble with hoaksters sending crap to my grandfather. Every few weeks you'd find some new piece of junk Veteran's "memorial" trinket that lord only knows how much he paid to receive under the guise of "charity".
Watch Dirty Money, Season 2, Episode 5 "Guardians, Inc."

I honestly thought the screenwriters based this story off one the guardians in that episode, but added a twist, i.e. what happens if an elderly victim is related to organized crime?

I enjoyed the movie, but admit to a little disappointment. I thought I was going to be watching a nice revenge movie, but didn't quite get it. I thought the final ending was realistic, though.

Only other issue is in the real world scenario, I think someone would go after the judge, too.

You guys know about spoiler tags right?

The last half-hour was pretty ridiculous. Almost ruined it for me.

And I was really hoping Dinklage would shoot her in the head in the middle of her monologuing and the plan was all bull*****

I agree with a lot of y'all, I thought this movie was awful. But I don't understand how it's being considered a comedy? Netflix and other reviews keep calling it a dark comedy. I don't recall a single humorous moment.

Dinklage covering his face was the funniest part, by far. And probably the only humorous part.

When does he cover his face? This moment did not stick out to me.

It's "exact revenge", not "extract revenge".

This movie had promise but fell apart close to halfway through it once they decided to make her invincible. I think the biggest issue is when a character is this callous and cruel to the elderly you really want to see them receive their comeuppance.

However, getting Layer Caked at the end is not sufficient. It's more cathartic for the audience to have the character realize their flaws and go one of two ways: redemptive arc or incredible anguish coupled with regret. The movie didn't afford us that opportunity with the final ending, she barely had time to register what occurred.

When I read the movie synopsis and started watching the first 30-45 minutes I thought, this could be enjoyable, this evil witch is going to get what's coming to her via an unlikely source (Dinklage), and perhaps a few twists with his mom exacting her revenge.

She stated at the start, there are only two types of people, takers and the ones getting took. The best revenge would be for her to have everything taken away with the realization that it was due to her greed of the "cherry" client. They botched it.

Honestly I almost turned this one off.

Similar to Delroy Linda's character in Da 5 Bloods, Pikes character was so unlikable that it almost tanked the movie for me. After the first 40 minutes every scene I just constantly thought "Someone kill her now. Please. Violently too."

She had no backstory, no decent motivation, just evil. I was definitely on the side of the Russian drug mule criminal over the elder abuser.

I did turn it off. Unlikable characters and wholly unrealistic "scams". I can't believe how much hype this has gotten.
