We watched the 2019 Russian SciFi show "Better than us" with 16 x 50 minute episodes over spring break in between working around the house.

We tried to watch it a while back, but the captions did not match what the dubbed voice overs were saying which is taxing for a person who relies on captions. Now they are almost a perfect match. Sure the voice actors are not the people playing the parts, but we really found the story well done. Which makes the voice acting not matter so much.

We found this to be one of the better Sci Fi series we have seen in years. You could watch it with your older kids since there is no nudity though they do throw around a the S & F word quite a bit.
There have been similar series such as "Humans" for one, which we also liked. I may actually like this story better. There is talk of a season 2 which I have heard may be backed by the Chinese, which if you see the show could make it compelling.

Anyone else catch this and have an opinion on what they thought?

Might be something I try.

Can you give it a comparison?

was there an option to watch with original audio and just use subtitles?

I would say it is in the vein of "iRobot", Asimov's law of robots comes up, and as I mentioned similar to the show "Humans".

Is that what you were asking without me giving anything away?

why not use the original audio if you are using subtitles anyway?

I am mostly deaf, or more accurately, I have very loud tinnitus.
I need the subtitles to double check what I think I heard.

I do the same. Sometimes its funny when sub titles are different that the audio.

This is a rare exception, they are nearly 100% accurate on this show.

I enjoyed it. Watched in original language with English subtitles. My only complaint is that it began drag on towards the end. It's 16 episodes. I felt like they could have done the story in 8-9. The father and son are also two of the main actors in To The Lake. A show on Netflix that I thought was great.

I will keep that in mind for the future, thanks.

He's asking why not have them speak Russian and read the subtitles.

I understand, I just would rather hear it in English and be able to read the same.
I always use subtitles even with English spoken shows.
