The long rumored follow-up to Band of Brothers and The Pacific (it's not actually a follow-up as in a sequel) is finally starting to get some casting news.

Masters of the Air Casting

I guess this means it's going to finally happen. If they capture the book on which it's based upon, this is going to feature some truly awful imagery. Life in a B-17 over Germany was often violent, and dangerous even when no one was shooting at you (think, frozen air).

Why would HBO pass on this? Spielberg, Hanks, and WWII has proven to be a winning combination on multiple occasions. They spend too much on Justice League?

On my list to visit, next time I'm near Savannah.

8th Air Force casualties were truly staggering.

From wiki : "In total, the 8th Air Force lost over 26,000 men. An additional 28,000 men became prisoners of war. Aircraft losses were also grim: 10, 561 planes of varying types were shot down, 4754 of those were B-17 heavy bombers. The 390th Bomb Group lost 176 of its 275 assigned aircrafts."

Definitely looking forward to this one. Guess I will be keeping AppleTV+ once the free year ends, or time the next device purchase when the show debuts.

Except if you watch any recent documentaries on the air war in Europe, you may very well come away convinced that had it not been for the Tuskegee Airmen (all black fighter squadron), the US could never have won the war.
