Netflix Documentary. I had always wondered just what exactly these families had done wrong to warrant jail time for their parents, but this film explains it perfectly with acted actual phone calls amongst the clients and the handler.

Also, I'm not sure how many on the entertainment board keep up with big time college athletics outside of Aggieland and the SEC, but this film was basically screaming lack of institutional control for several big name colleges both on the athletic and academic fronts.

Overall, I thought it was good, anyone else watch it?

Yeah. I watched it. I thought the guy who was the mastermind of the whole thing got careless. He could still be riding this thing if he had just done a couple a year. I liked it.

Yeah, but he got greedy. Just like those families. The Hot Pocket heiress and her family were busted!

I enjoyed it, although I would have preferred a regular documentary instead of mixing in with the acting. Somethings I found interesting:

1. When the whole story broke, I wondered why these people didn't just donate directly to the schools. Apparently, at Stanford and Harvard it starts at $30 million to just get a second look at your child. Way more money than I expected.

2. Lori Loughlin sounds like a b the way she was complaining about the high school counselor basically doing his job.

3. I feel like the documentary tried to act like the sailing coach was just an innocent bystander in the whole thing. I find that hard to believe. I also find it hard to believe the AD at Stanford wasn't aware of anything.

4. I don't look forward to having to deal with all of this I'm a couple of years when my kids are college age.

The most amazing thing to me is that these are rich, influential people, with tons of connections.

Their kids could graduate from Houston Community College and still get great jobs with mom and dad's help. So what if Olivia Jade has to go to Arizona State? She'll be fine.

It's just fascinating to see these parents shovel money at a shyster for four years of bragging rights at the country club.

Yeah the sailing coach did more than the movie showed. Although he did not take any money for himself, he did help two students get into Stanford via "side door" bribes.

I feel bad for the kids, what if it wasn't even what they wanted. I bet they never told their parents they didn't want their lives.

It's interesting that it all collapsed because one of the parents got brought in for securities fraud and traded information on a coach for leniency in their case. That coach then did the same thing with information on Rick for leniency in their case.

I guess the risk increased as more people became involved, but this could've easily continued for awhile longer.

Their was a podcast series (by the bearded guy who tried to interview Singer next to his Porsche in the movie) that was more entertaining.

I think Gangster Capitalism was the one.

Crazy that Singer pled guilty 2 years ago and still hasn't been sentenced.

Pretty much everyone in the case ended up with a slap on the wrist. No one is serving hard time for this. Singer might, but after he narced on 50 people I doubt it.

My wife saw me watching this documentary and informed me of a Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Smith and her mom/daughter with Olivia Jade as a guest. Supposedly it's her first interview post scandal. It's not my cup of tea but I watched it just because it was relevant. I'd have expected to see some tears shed when talking about her parents going to jail but she never did. I'm curious how much of this was just a PR show for her to regain her followers?
