Will there be a 3rd season? Finished the second season this morning and want the 3rd to start.

They are filming. No release date yet. Probably end of the year or early next year.

What was SJW about season 1?

Besides the weird, worthless UAV pilot storyline... I thought it explored some relevant themes about that area of the world. It was unrealistic at times, but pretty solid. What am I not remembering?

Season 2 was a pile of excrement where Jack Ryan went from a reluctant hero to hardened guy running black ops, sleeping with random women, hell bent on revenge, killing indiscriminately. No more analyst in him at all. Just another mindless action series at that point. Also I loved Matice's character, and he got killed in a worthless endeavor, when the boat driver actions made no sense given how they've set up his character.

The UAV storyline was told pretty sloppily BUT it is a story that needs to be told.

These service members are being asked to do some psychologically damaging stuff and then told to drive home to the wife and kids to have dinner like they were accountants and not killing people during the day.

I thought Arrested Development did a much better job of pointing out the ridiculousness of the job.

It may be an important point in general (UAV storyline) but it had absolutely no bearing on the jack ryan plot... felt like it was an excuse to show some weird sex scenes. That could have and should have been removed from the series... and if they did no one would have missed it at all.

I agree with all of that and is why I said it was done sloppily.

I was just pointing out that it is a portion of modern combat that is, for the most part, over looked and offered an example of where it was shown and done effectively while fitting in with the plot.

Agreed. I think the themes explored were fine and I get the internal battle that would occur. But it just like jolted you out of the rest of the story, Especially the weird sex scene.

One thing to consider about Ryan's past he was a Marine Corps infantry platoon leader before the helicopter crash and injury. So guy does have some experience and specialized training.

Huh, I didn't get that sense. I thought it was good. In the beginning it appeared that a muslim extremist was the bad guy. In the end a muslim extremist was the bad guy.

Unlike 24, where the real bad guy was an evil western European.

Yeah, and if he is referring to the show going into his past and showing how he became radicalized, I'm not sure why that would bother anyone. Clancy always gave the bad guys pretty realistic motivations.

I forgot I wrote this post. (Just like I forgot about this show). I forget most of the SJW crap that caused be to stop watching. Probably anti-American comments made by American characters. I do remember that they made Greer muslim, despite that not being the case in the books. Then later I heard that in season 2 that they mischaracterized the failures of Venezuela as NOT being due to socialism, but due to some sort of "right wingism". That confirmed to me the vibes I got during season 1 were well founded. I'm not going to waste my time on naive crap like that.

I'm not even sure what to say to people who focus on such minute details that let their entertainment be ruined. You realize that if there is an opposite term of sjw you are basically the right wing version of a snowflake right?

Depending on which timeline you use, Jack was either a year or so out of Quantico or still at Annapolis when he had his helicopter go down. Not a lot of time to learn to be a particularly trained operator.

I'm not sure what to say to people who are so ignorant on politics that they don't realize that it does matter. Ideologies propagandized by shows like this have done grave damage to our nation and each and every one of us. Depending on your age, either you or your children will someday come to realize the damage that has been inflicted on them.

And, BTW, not wanting to give somebody my hard earned money is nothing like demanding "safe spaces" and claiming that hearing somebody speak is physically "painful" to them.

The guy who can't even remember why he stopped watching, but it was "probably" because an actor made "anti american" comments is about the most "bitter 70 yr old watching FOX News" thing possible.

It's not my fault that the show sucked and was forgettable. Clearly my impression spot on given where the show went in season 2.

Liberals are ignorant and stupid. Why waste time watching/listening to idiots be idiots? I have better things to do with my time.

I agree it wasn't very good and that's why I stopped watching after season 1. But you already gave your reason for not watching and it was because a right leaning show was too left wing and anti American for you, which again, LOLZ.

If you think that is a "right leaning show" then you are even more clueless than first impression.

Tom Clancy and his books were, but this show is not. He'd probably be pissed if he were alive.

If you go by Tom Clancy's background then Ryan went into the Marines via Platoon Leaders Course Quantico which included going through IOC Infantry Officer Course. Today's USMC IOC is a brutal 13 week course some of the most physically demanding courses in the Marines.

After all his training as a officer Ryan was posted with 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Batt - 6th Marines. Little time later during a NATO mission in Crete, is when his helicopter went down during the mission

I expect we'll see a Jack Ryan tie-in in the Without Remorse series.

(Which will probably be awesome but still manage to upset Clancy hardliners.)

Wouldnt hold my breath though, I think Amazon just announced The Boys would release in June. Seems unlikely they'd drop this any earlier or in close proximity.

Any speculation on a storyline? Curious to see what's used from the books.
