If it is an entertaining well written well produced movie with an engaging cast (10 commandments, silence, ben hur, cool hand luke, prince of egypt, countless others) I will watch.

If it is a terrible hamfisted cudgel of a film (God's not dead, etc), or a boring snuff porn with no compelling story (passion of the christ) I will pass

But the odds of it being good is as likely as you agreeing with my views of those films.

It can be both of those things. I think it was an important film, but not really one that is the first one I would recommend as something that encapsulates the story of Jesus or one that is an interesting movie for that matter.. and I played Pilate twice in our church plays.

Fun fact: when this was originally debated on Texags, my response was quoted in the San Antonio Express News in the sports section

I agree it is an important story. It is just a terrible movie. If you showed it to someone that didn't know the Christ story they wouldn't have cared one bit about the protagonist and would have just sat there and wondered what the hell is wrong with you.

I tried to give God Is Not Dead an honest try, but one scene made me feel carsick as they tried every single camera angle and change of perspective they could think of, all in one shot of a group of people sitting in a circle calmly talking.

Passion of the Christ was very moving, but I've never had the slightest impulse to watch it again. Would have been nice if he'd made a film id feel comfortable showing to a minor.

I'm ultra-conservative and pro-life, at least by the standards of this board. But it's hard to get great Christian movies made. For Greater Glory is the best modern one I've seen.

Good example. And there's really so many hero's journey centric films that aren't overtly Christian but are absolutely redemption/Christ-like stories.
