Arguably one of the greatest rap lyrics of all time: "Oh yes, ladies, I'm really being sincere; Cause in a 69 my humpty nose will tickle ya rear".

Just read his wiki page. Pretty fascinating guy.

I had no idea that Humpty's nasally voice was fake. I guess I always thought it was too crazy of a singing voice to be made up. I also had no idea that there was a whole back story for the fake nose.
Quote:

A fictional biography was constructed for Humpty, the story being that Edward Ellington Humphrey III, former lead singer of "Smooth Eddie and the Humpers," had become a rapper after burning his nose in a kitchen accident with a deep-fryer

So many great lines in Humpty Dance, and that bass line is so iconic.
Freaks of the Industry is another good one.

Shock was inspired by Slick Rick. He was originally from Queens, which is why he and 2Pac connected so fast (Eastcoast transplants to the Bay Area). A very underrated producer. Humpty Dance is one of the most sampled songs.

Digital Underground also played at some club at A&M between 96 and 00. I went to that show and when the show ended with the Humpty Dance he walked off stage and I just walked back stage - no one even gave me a second look. I walked up to him shook his hand and we chatted for a minute or two with the nose still on. It was pretty awesome.

Listening to some stories on the radio today from the band - basically said 'I Get Around' was already written and ready to go, and Tupac came to Shock G and said he really needed a big hit for his new album and that Shock basically told him it's "his time" and gave it to him.

I couldn't hear anything for a day or two after going to that concert because of the bass!

Just found out. Damn.

Shock-G was friends with my next door neighbour and used to come over to the house and visit. She said he was a sweetheart.

Luckily, he called out Puerto Ricans like myself to do the Humpty Dance.

For an instant I thought you were saying that Digital Underground and Indigo Girls played the same show. Most unlikely tour mates ever?

I bet there was some other place they'd want to be that night.

Don't know how I missed this news about Shock G. Did anybody ever figure out which club it was? Those are the same years I was in school and I don't recall seeing them and if I didn't I don't know why I wouldn't have gone.
