Good call on Jaws and The Silence of the Lambs.

Isn't that a comic book series?
So we're in agreement: it's a book.
Graphic novel
Even with the whole loose vagina subplot?VW_Bus_Guy said:
The Godfather
Ok...i don't think a graphic novel is a book, but I'll concede your point.C@LAg said:it was a 12 issue limited series first, then later collected into a graphic novel format.Bruce Almighty said:Look guys... said:Series.israeliag said:Look guys... said:israeliag said:

Not just sci fi. Hell, just about anything published by Charles Dickens was doing in serial format. That's how a lot of written word was consumed in that era.Bruce Almighty said:C@LAg said:it was a 12 issue limited series first, then later collected into a graphic novel format.Bruce Almighty said:Look guys... said:Series.israeliag said:Look guys... said:israeliag said:

I know, but so we're a lot of books, especially in the early days of sci fi. Stephen King has done it as well with books like The Green Mile.
The Martian was serial too. It just wasn't a comic book.bluefire579 said:Not just sci fi. Hell, just about anything published by Charles Dickens was doing in serial format. Yeah, because I think of a a book as a novel, I didn't clarify. That being said, it's dumb of me to nit pick.jeffk said:
OP just says "book."
Similarly, I love Starship Troopers the book and love Starship Troopers the movie. The movie was a combination of a pre-written script and Starship Troopers.superunknown said:
Alright so hear me out.
I thoroughly enjoyed World War Z. Both the book and the novel.
You just have to separate yourself from the fact that the movie has little to do with the book. They share a name, some character names and the broadest of plots but thats about it.

I used to show that to my students after reading "Beowulf"An L of an Ag said:

I've always felt movies fall short of the book and a tv series is the best way to adapt a book. Hollywood has gotten it right lately.
But what's the book and movie adaptation where you can re-read the book and re-watch the movie?
For me, it's The Martian.
I learned of the movie on Texags, then immediately downloaded the book after reading the synopsis. I couldn't put it down and read it in an afternoon. I've probably read it 5-6 times.
I watch the movie whenever it is on, and love it each and every time. The casting is amazing, the pace, the soundtrack, everything about it is great.
What's yours?

I've specifically mentioned this before. I really, really disliked the movie version after reading the book. I know I'm in the minority but I thought the movie went well off the mark.
