This is the America 80's Reagan country I grew up in. Also grew up in a heavily Navy town and had many friends who's dad's were carrier guys. My dad was ex Army and we caught a lot of BS. All good.

oh gawd... Bitter Sweet Symphony depresses me.

The lyrics are depressing. It's about life's hardships and the futility of it all.

Some lines:

memories from the time when the song was released, has nothing to do with the lyrics.

similar thing with my other two, time and a place with good memories attached to the song.

Don't know if this is serious or not but Huey Lewis and the News put on a great concert. One of my top 10 concerts I've been to.

In addition, there's a story about how the songwriter/singer from The Verve received no royalties for the song due to a Rolling Stones sample they used.
