that looks really good.
The Broadway play was amazing and seems like this is pretty faithful.

Still pretty shocked they actually put Platt back in this role. I know his dad is the producer so that is what was always going to happen but wow - somebody really thought "How do we make a 30-year old look like a teenager? I know - a curly wig!"

Saw this on stage and thought it was really incredible... and Ben platt sings and performs the crap out of this role. I hope the movie is as incredible as the Broadway production.

I'm pretty sure I read where when Ben Platt signed up for this role in the Broadway production, he signed a deal that if there was ever a movie production of this he would get first right of refusal. I'm assuming this will play as a musical with him singing... if so, it's difficult to imagine anyone else in that role... if it's not a musical then it could be any number of actors.

I saw the preview and couldn't get past the suspension of disbelief of how old he looks. And I can't tell the difference between a normal high schooler and college aged.

It's Hollywood. They get 25-35 year olds to play teenagers most of the time and then... mostly women do this... wonder why they don't look that way at 18.

Entire family saw it on Broadway and Platt gave, by far, the best performance I have seen on stage.

He became an emotionally wrecked high schooler, every performance for 2 1/2 hours.

He had to be emotionally and physically exhausted by the end of each night.

Very glad that others get to see the performance, and I hope it is even half as good on screen as it was on stage.

Some look older than others, and he looks really old.

The Dax Shepard podcast with Platt from 2-3 years ago is fascinating. He talks about how much of a toll the show took on him physically and emotionally, and everything he had to do to stay healthy for it.

Really great show and I look forward to the movie

My son and I learned that entire soundtrack last summer.
He really wants to do musical theatre and decided he needed to have a variety of songs for auditions.

I cannot wait to take him to see this.

I don't understand why everyone's biggest complaint is how "old" been looks. I teach high school kids... he might looker "older" but he definitely fits in with that awkward acting and looking high school kid. And to me didn't stick out around the rest of the main cast and extras.

Also if you look at any other movie or show that deals with actors playing high school roles, they always seem not to fit. Older movies, Grease... 90's movies, she's all that... 2000's, varsity blues... tv shows like 90210 or saved by the bell... I could go on, yet everyone is attacking this and have probably never even seen the Broadway.

I'd rather sacrifice a little age for a good performance and Ben is going to kill it in the acting/vocals.

Don't get me wrong tho, the buzz feed article had some pretty funny tweet compilation of everyone talking about age. I think the movies gonna be great. The only thing I think it will miss the mark on is how the stage show capitalizes on how social media really drives the message forward.

Completely agree.

Having been fortunate enough to see him as well as many of the others that came after him on Broadway for this show, this is his role. It may have been the best, most emotional Broadway performance I have ever seen live. He could be fifty years old and I would still try to find a way to cast him. He was that great.

Saying that, the old guy memes are fantastic.

Wow, this is getting some bad reviews. I wish they would have just done what Newsies and Hamilton did and just release a stage recording rather than redoing it as a movie. Because the musical was great but it sounds like this movie is awful.
