I realize this is about a headliner that can play, but I have really grown to appreciate John Carroll's playing. I graduated from High School a year behind him in Pleasanton and had the opportunity to hear him just sit and jam and he is really good.

Roy Clark always impressed me, here he is on the Odd Couple.
Love the reaction from Klugman & Randall... genuine awe.

Here's great track of Brad Paisley with the best "chicken pickers" in Nashville, some of whom were mentioned in this thread: James Burton, Vince Gill, Albert Lee, John Jorgenson, Brent Mason, Redd Volkaert, and Steve Wariner.

You've probably never heard of this guy unless you're into harder rock, and even then, he goes largely unnoticed. But the guy is crazy varied in what he can play at a pretty high level.

On a hello kitty guitar at that.

Here is like every possible style of playing guitar possible in a 3 modified sugar foot rag lol.

Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard don't get alot praise for how good they could play guitar. I'd also say Merle son Ben Haggard good just like his dad.

I think I read somewhere he played the Opry with somebody. It was before he started playing for Manson.

I think people forget or never knew how talented Merle was.

I agree 100% he wrote all the music and words to all his songs and guy could jam on the fiddle too. My favorite singer of all time. His son Ben helping carry on the torch

I submit Junior Brown for consideration. He shreds on that double necked "Guit-Steel" guitar
