How long do you want to ignore this user?

This is a show I loved then just royally pissed me off with how it was ended. Looks like they are going to try and salvage it this year in the fall. I'm hopeful.

I think Deb ultimately killing Dexter would be a satisfying ending. What says the board? Any predictions?

Didn't Deb die?

She had a stroke and turned her into a vegetable. I don't believe it ever said she's dead. With the end of the show writing I could see a situation where she "wakes up".

I thought Dexter took her off life support and buried her in the ocean? Or am I misremembering who that was

Great, now I have that song stuck in my head.

Yeah remember when dexter inexplicably carried a body out of a hospital to his boat parked outside and transported her to the eye of a hurricane. That's when Dexter figured out he had evolved gills like Kevin Costner in Waterworld and went on to become the first gilled lumberjack in Oregonian history.

I tell ya, when you write it out it defies how it was ever made to be.

It is the worst ending to a show, ever. If you haven't seen Dexter before then just pretend the show ends after season 4. That would have been the perfect ending (or whatever season was the trinity killer, just stop it there).

I've seen articles reporting there will be no characters from the prior seasons -- other than Dexter himself -- in the reboot.

But they incorporated Harry (Dexter's father) in scenes after his death, so the possibility would be there to do the same with Deb as well.

Aww...no Masuka. He was the only character who was consistently awesome.

Saw some entertainment news blurb that John Lithgow is returning in the reboot. Wasn't he killed in season 4?

Deadline reports that the limited series return of Dexter (aka a 10-episode ninth season) has written the Trinity Killer back into the plot, with Lithgow's scenes only requiring a day or two of filming in the next week or two in Los Angeles.
. . .
The good news for those of us who do wish the series ended after Season 4, this new revival of Dexter will be showrun by Clyde Phillips, the man responsible for the series' glory days. Phillips initially came in to revamp the pilot, and then stayed on as showrunner for four seasons. He left for the final four, and though Phillips' continuation will reportedly not ignore the "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay" twist in the original series finale, fingers crossed the writer can return the show to some of its former blood-soaked luster.

How Phillips and company will resurrect the Trinity Killer, though, is anyone's guess. Flashback? Dream sequence? We'll just have to snap on some latex gloves and find out.
Lithgow may be serving in the Harry role.

I think you, sir, may be on to something.

If this is a one-season reboot ... all bets are off in terms of outstanding characters who "could" be brought in through a variety of ways.

Whether through memories, flashbacks or "visitations" ... this sets up the writers to make Dexter a highly tormented individual as a result.
