So this is one of my favorite comic books. It's written by Donny Cates, a native of Garland and current Austinite.
It's about a family in west Texas (not the town), and the grandfather has Alzheimer's until a mystical sword comes down and suddenly he remembers everything and is a badass warrior while holding the sword. My favorite line from the whole book is "Come and Take It" when the antagonist comes for the sword.
Anyways, it's a great read and they're making a movie about it!
