Just got home from Star Cinema showing. First movie in a long time. This was a good movie. Loved it. Was based on real events and was fun see how things were back in that time. Luke Wilson did a great job.
Shame this movie didn't get more attention, really enjoyed it. Cool seeing some Texas history on the big screen. Really good message in this movie. If you're like me and grumble about Hollywood's tendency to mostly cash in on reboots and unneeded sequels and endless comic book movies, spend some money to see this one so more like it will be produced.
Based on a true story about a Texas high school football coach who decides to take a position at an orphanage outside of Ft Worth and build them a program. Took place in the late 30's. Kind of a predictable story, but wholesome and fun to watch. The role is well suited for Luke Wilson. Nice feel good movie.
Yeah it definitely made me want to read it. Kind of wish they'd made it as a miniseries. Seemed like they struggled to pack in all the necessary character development into a feature length movie. Still good, though.
