Finished the 2nd season of Netflix's Black Summer over the weekend. This is a raw post apocalyptic zombie survival series with raw storytelling and some good cinematography outside of the minor times where there is too much shakiness.

Ready for Season 3

I will have to check this out....been looking for something new to watch

You're right, its been 2 years since Season 1.
It takes a few episodes to kick to high gear, but then it gets great. Episodes 1-4 aren't bad by any means, but episodes 5-8 are excellent, and better than S1 imo. Really good

I love how this show is 100% go and moving almost the entire time there arent multiple slow episodes in a row for character development or to build up to a climax

Worth a watch. Wasn't slow - but seemed like several scenes of just staring at a character doing nothing or walking around alone with nothing happening. The titles every 5 minutes preceding each scene got a little old as well. But that beats the stretches of boredom in TWD which I gave up on like 5 years ago. I did like some the action sequences filmed from different character viewpoints.

Agree worth a watch and camera staying on a person doing nothing. Watching on phone and I would hit the 10 second fast forward a few times and nothing would change.

I binged both seasons over the last couple of weeks and thought it was great. I love how none of the characters are safe, and when they do get killed there is absolutely no fanfare over it. It just happens and they turn. It keeps you on edge.

I'm not sure how I feel about fast zombies vs. slow zombies like TWD. The slow zombies in TWD never seemed like much of a danger unless they were in a hoard, but the fast zombies seem almost too fast.

Also, a minor gripe: It's always annoying to see characters that are so stupid or useless that you know they wouldn't have lasted in a zombie apocalypse as long as they have. I get that they are added for dramatic effect or increased tension, but c'mon. Take the sons in the house in S2, for example.

Just discovered both seasons and binged. Fun watch. I enjoyed the faster zombie movement, and especially the much more realistic usage of firearms where headshots on moving targets are difficult. Enjoyed how you could never know when a character might end. But for largely nonstop action, I thought it actually did a good job with character development. Subtly deeper than it seems for a show with nonstop death and mayhem

I think I saw that this series is a prequel to a movie(?) that came out first?

I've been eyeing this for a while and may add it to the rotation this weekend.

Some propose a loose relationship with the Z Nation series, but there's apparently not really a connection. I never watched Z Nation

damn i thought this was a bump that it was coming for another season

Season 2 was a marked improvement of the first one. Thought it was one of the more realistic takes on the zombie apocalypse. I've got high hopes for the 2rd season whenever it finally comes out.

And it is infinitely better than the current, bloated husk of The Walking Dead. I gave up on that show years ago.
