Dinosaurs had a bad finale too.
Is that the show with the dinosaur puppets? So you are the viewer who watched that?

BTW, how was cop rock?

I got to say this is a pretty short list of bad show endings considering all the shows that have ever ended.

A lot of shows don't get past the pilot. And a bunch of other shows get cancelled without getting a chance to do a finale.

Yeah. And really the hated ones are usually those with series-long story arcs that are unfulfilling. That is sort of a newer trend in television. A sitcom or procedural drama finale is often just forgettable.

Battlestar Galatica was another one with a horrible ending to me. But it had been going downhill the moment Saul was one of the final 5.

Honestly most of season 3 and all of season 4 were bad i twice tried to watch season and just did not care to finish it.

Season 1 and 2 were good but they got way to lost in mythology even then.
Season 1 and 2 were probably easily some of the best sci-fi ever on televisioin. When they got to the planet and then time jumped a few years or whatever it was ( and the Galatica did the atmospheric reentry, go find the thread on Texags on this) it went downhill. It is another one I say that is how for the writers originally got ( end of season 2) and then it went to pieces. Saul and then others being the final 5 were just made up crap. Baltar was still one of the best villians in a sci-fi show as well.

My guess is that shows that actually have a true finale is probably less than 25%.

Full House.

Michelle falls off her horse, gets a traumatic brain injury, she has no idea who she is or who her family is, but the doctors let her go home a few hours after arriving at the hospital (maybe run some more tests first!?). I mean, she could've died.

Then the family sits around just telling stories in one of those typical 90s sitcom flashback episodes that they do every season when they run out of new plot lines.

At the very end, she's like "OK I'm all better", then they hug. Series over.

Then the ***** doesn't even show up for the reboot.
Yeah they made it way too much about Michelle toward the end. That was a weird finale.

My reaction:

Yep, and the number of shows that are good enough to have people emotionally invested in the finale are even lower, especially towards the later seasons.

In regards to Full House, that wasn't their planned series finale- just the finale for that season. They thought they would have a season 9 to wrap it up, but despite still rating in the top 25-30 shows, it was abruptly cancelled which didn't give them time to end it like they wanted. There are several articles out there about the reasoning behind it all. I wasn't still watching by this time as I was in college, but did watch the early years and later reruns with my nephew and kids.

Totally agree with HIMYM. Never watched Lost or GOT. I was indifferent to Seinfeld's ending, but do remember thinking that can't be it.

Someone mentioned Mad About You and I agree. I really enjoyed that show and couldn't believe the way they ended it with the time jump and them separated and almost divorced. They saved it in the end, but still. I did just recently rewatch the series while finishing some projects and then found the reboot on Amazon. It was so weird because the reboot just seemed to completely ignore the finale in regards to many of the characters and how their life ended up in the original show. Also, Helen Hunt looked so different that it was distracting at first.

Holy crap someone actually liked Mad About You enough to do a rewatch!

What happened in the ALF finale? The only thing I found on a quick Google search was that it ended with a "to be continued" and wasn't renewed for a fifth season.

It was dark...

Tangent thread. For me, it was Man in the High Castle. Did such a great job building up the story, right until the last scene.

How I felt:

I thought most of the last season was disappointing. Was great up until then.

the second to last episode (I think) of Man in the High Castle is one of the best hours of tv ever

When John Smith looks completely ****ed, and pulls off the stealth Coup over Himmler ...Absolutely jaw dropping

Yeah this show after 1st 2 seasons was just a complete reboot each season. And the song that only cylons could hear. Sheesh. But Grace Park doing naked Tai Chi in that one scene was nice

I know. Seriously, the show just failed at the tail end. Even John killing himself wasn't completely terrible. But, the random people walking out of the portal at the end was a complete WTF moment. The American Reich pulling off the attack on the BCR was not consistent with how the the producers had showcased some of the Nazi effects on the American population. Both powers essentially just gave up. Many of the character arcs had such lackluster conclusions. It's almost as if they wrote themselves into a corner, and didn't know how to finish it.

Didn't think it was bad just really disheartening. Growing up watching this the whole point was trying to get him home.

Everything I read online about this was they didn't know they were canceled hence the abrupt ending and strange deal with Al's picture leaping.

Lost...awful.

One day there are Caribbean polar bears terrorizing everyone...then poof.

The plot ended being like a soap opera...well heck how do we write ourselves outta this mess...hmmm...time travel...hmm alternate reality....hmm purgatory....hmm bring in a submarine....

This is what happens when they create a show to last a few years and it becomes to successful to kill.

I view Lost as a great character drama and one of the stupidest nonsensical plots of all time. JJ Abrams is great at creating questions with no idea how to answer them.
