I was on flight with Mike Tyson one time. He sat in first class and his entourage all sat in coach. He was still laughing with fans and signing autographs when I left the airport. I never much cared about him, but thought that was impressive.
For everyone... Just search Tom Segura meeting Mike Tyson on a plane. Two part story. You can thank me later.

One of my son's friends met him and he spent probably 10 minutes talking to him about NASA and robotics

We all love his channel! Funny enough the video he did on catching scammers, I thought one of the neighborhoods looked familiar, and sure enough it showed a Pearland PD cruiser confronting a lady who had glitter all over herself.

Posted before on the Entertainment forum:

Story time: Summer after ninth grade, must have been 1992 , two friends and I saw him at the Arena Theater (dumpy little theater in the round in Sharpstown) in Houston. We were pretty close to the stage, as it turns out. After "Smells like Nirvana," he smashed his guitar and pieces went flying. A roadie picked some pieces up and ran over to us and gave them to us. We thought that was the highlight of the night. After the show, we were standing outside waiting for our ride, and noticed his tour bus right there. We went up to the security guard standing by the back door, showed her the guitar pieces, and asked her if she knew when he would come out so we could try to get them autographed. She told us to wait a minute, went inside, came back outside, and said, "Okay, he's right in there. Just walk through the curtain." So she let us in, we walked through the curtain, and sure enough, Weird Al walked right in, on his way out. We showed him the guitar pieces, he happily signed them, shook our hands and said "Nice to meet you." It wasn't until we were all outside, giddy as, well, a bunch of Weird Al nerds who just met Weird Al, that we realized we should have done the "we're not worthy" bit from Wayne's World. Anyway, I still have that autographed guitar piece, on a shelf of honor in my fun room. My wife hates it.

When I was at the Batt, Craig T. Nelson was out at Texas World Speedway one weekend racing cars. We went out to interview/take pictures of him and he asked us what the best place to eat in College Station was, then took us out to eat there for the interview.
I was at that race. It was the Exxon Superflo 500. Also saw Candlebox out there the night before.

He was pretty cool the only time I had occasion to hang out w/ him, which was after their acoustic show at The Tavern on West Gray in Houston in ~2005 I think. One of their first shows really (post Layne), and there weren't that many people there. My brother and I may or may not have partaken in a little toke w/ him and a couple of the other dudes.
was that AIC or solo?
I saw them (AIC) acoustic at Antone's in Austin, but it sold out the day of on sale... hardly an empty show. It was 2007.

I lived in Houston during 00s and I don't remember him doing an acoustic show there. Must have missed my radar. I've seen him/AIC 8-9 times.
Was that the show where Weiland sang Angry Chair? I was there, got a signed shirt from Mike Inez too, one of their Fantasy Football tshirts.

At the Antone's austin show, yes. Crazy how much Scott looked like Layne up on stage with his big glasses on.

I was telling my mom about this thread and she told me a story about Raymond Bur (Perry mason/Iron Sides) being with the USO towards the end of WWII. Raymond Burr, s does not sing or dance, or tell jokes. What he did was visit with the servicemen, learn their names and take notes. then, when he returned to the states, he wrote personal letters to their families, letting them know he met their serviceman, and how he was doing. He wrote a lot of personal letters.

Years ago, my wife and I went to Vegas with a friend of ours. When boarding our Southwest flight, we could swear that Gary Kubiak was sitting in the front of the plane. We couldn't believe that he would be flying to Vegas on a Southwest plane. At this point in time, he had been head coach of the Texans only one or two seasons.

We we got off in Vegas and sure enough.....it was him. My friend approached him and asked if we could get a picture with him and he was nice and obliged. Of course, we all had something A&M on. We thanked him and then headed off to baggage claim. We were so excited to have had that happen when we heard a voice from behind us ask "so, where are ya'll from?"

Gary Kubiak and his wife proceeded to walk and talk with us all the way to baggage claim. He couldn't have been a nicer man.

Siobhan Fallon Hogan Not a huge star. Farmers wife in MIB (Edgar suit). Some other small parts. Paid her to record a Christmas greeting g for my wife. She personally texted me from her own phone to make sure I received the video and if I thought it was good enough. She ended up chatting with me for a little bit as she is from/lives near Syracuse and I was based there for 4 years. Very nice lady.
Get ready bal. You're gonna in for a problem.

Then she lives/lived in my parents' neighborhood! I pass his childhood home every time I visit my folks. My parents went to Waltrip with the Swayze's and my mom took dance lessons from Patrick's mom, Patsy. My mom said they were one of the sweetest families you could know.

They also went to Waltrip with Shelley Duvall, who by all accounts, was just as odd as she seems.

i can't find it on the site but i read an awesome story on here about Roger Moore that hit me in the feels. dude was a champion human being.

i've told it on here before so i won't go into the mega details but when i was in high school i played golf a lot after school at Stonebridge in McKinney. one day this old man meets me on the tee box ( i was going out to practice alone as the course was empty) and asks if i minded if he joined me. i said of course and for the first couple of holes we casually shoot the bull and about the 5th hole he asked me about what kind of a car i drove. we talked about my jeep for awhile and he tells me he enjoyed building cars in his free time and that he loved to collect cars.

it was Carrol Shelby.

we continued to play golf together occasionally and kept in touch until i went to A&M. i considered him a friend and he couldn't have been a nicer man.

Several years ago I Volunteered for Make A Wish for 4-5 years. Most of the celebrities had strict instructions for no photos or information getting out except for the MAW family. Just from my experience-
So many requests for Michael Jordan at the time so he would host several families at his steakhouse in Chicago a few times a year
Great w the kids - Troy Aikmen, Garth Brooks, Tim Allen, Craig Biggio
Not so great - Deion Sanders, Kordell Stewart, several of the Disney Channel stars

And the best experience we had was with Evander Holyfield. Child wanted to meet "The Champ". EH was living in Atlanta but training in Houston at the time. Make A Wish got a hold of his people and plans were made to visit the child at the medical center. Before that could happen, MAW office gets a call from EH himself. The office braced itself for what happens a lot - celebrities canceling - even when the kids are really sick, you are on the celebrities schedule, not the child. Usually results in an agent or manager sending some autographed photos and that's it. EH was wanting to know where the child was being treated and what the treatment schedule was. EH said he was told by his people that the child's wish was to meet him and he would rather go visit the kid himself so the kid wouldn't "waste his wish on meeting me"'and he could get a "good" wish like DisneyWorld or something better. EH went to the hospital with shoes and boxing gloves, met with the family and never told anyone.

but forreal penn and teller are super dee duper nice irl.

they spend literally as much time after their shows talking to fans as they want. If they start talking to you and feel caught up, they'll tell you to hang so everyone gets a chance and they'll wheel back around.
