Eastwood is 91, and in the middle of a pandemic he is directing and starring in large production releases still. Pretty remarkable.

Is this based on a book?

First I love Eastwood. National treasure
Movie was slow. Silly. Poor acting. Almost funny.

Damn. I almost feel like I have to go see this because it might be the last chance to see him on the big screen in a new lead.

COVID is scared sh*tless of Eastwood.

COVID puts on a mask and a face shield when it sees Eastwood coming.

Anyone seen it? My Dad is a Texan boomer who likes movies like Secondhand Lions and stuff like that. Will he like this?

I couldn't make it all the way through. And I don't mind typical slow Eastwood movies. But this one was bad writing, bad acting...just not good at all.

It's a shame, because I just rewatched Unforgiven the other day, and damn, that was an older Eastwood that could still pull off the badass act.

I want to preface this by saying that I love Clint Eastwood. No explanation needed about his body of work, even later in his career he only got better.

But this was one of the worst movies I have ever watched willingly. I saw wing commander in the theater in the 90s, so it's not THE worst, but it's at least the worst movie I've seen this year.

Not if he likes decent acting, decent story, and anything else that makes a decent film.

Totally agree. Sad to the point of not believing or understanding how it has 52% and 64% on RT. Just terrible. And I'm as big an Eastwood fan as you will find.

Talked to my dad, who saw this in the theater over the weekend, loves Eastwood movies, and can find the positive in just about any movie he sees, yet even he said this was by far the worst thing - movie or TV - he's seen all year. Said it's time for Eastwood to hang it up, which was surprising to hear.

Saw it yesterday. I'm not sure this is how studios work these days, but I get the feeling that Warner Bros keeps letting Clint make movies as a way of repaying all those years of loyalty he showed to them when he would never make movies with any other studio.

As far as this movie goes, there wasn't much to work with in terms of a screenplay, but after it settled in the second act was MUCH better than the first.

The story itself is decent probably could have been done in a way that made it a much, much better movie had they spent more money on scriptwriting and acting.

This movie is pretty bad. Eastwood is a treasure but really could have done without seeing this one.

I need to go watch Unforgiven ASAP to get this one out of my head.

What is up with all the post Covid lockdown movies being so bad?

Took my old man to see it at Coyote Drive In last night. Like people are saying, it isn't great. But I caught dad smiling and chuckling a few times. He's in the early stage of alzheimers and anything that gives me moments with him that bring him joy are worth more than a $12 ticket to me.

It's cool that Eastwood is able to still shoot and act in movies at his age, but such a shame they can't involve good writing and acting. This and Gran Torino have potential but are just so clunky and uninteresting.

David Geffen almost sent him to Paramount.

The only actor in the movie that delivered their lines flawlessly was the cute 5 year old girl that was deaf and spoke in sign language.

Marta, her grandmother, was the second best but lost me when she attracted to a 90 year old.

To be fair, I think that Clint acted as well as a 90 year old guy given a lead role with a terrible screenplay can act.

Well the thing is about that is that I think that jackwad is a terrible actor.

I liked this movie and all of the old man Clint Eastwood movies. You haters need to go watch "Attack of the Clones" as punishment.

Based on this thread, I may just throw it on my computer on HBOMax, but just turn it down and not watch. Clint gets one more view out of respect, but I won't be wasting my time.

The best part about this movie is that after slogging our way through it we somehow convinced my BIL and SIL to watch it the whole way through. We let them know it starts slow but stick with it.

Seriously, that was rough.

Watched the whole thing on HBOMax. I may be one of the most easily entertained, forgiving movie-goers ever, but I have to agree with everyone. This was just stinky bad. The kid actor was awful, the dialogue seemed to be written by a high schooler, the plot was pretty weird and pointless.

Yeah, not great.

We just finished this and quite enjoyed the movie. I think it may just be a matter of perspective. We have young kids in rodeo, we work with animals daily, as in 7 days a week, train rescue horses, and often think the same thing about the lifestyle as Clint mentioned in the movie. We are fully aware that if anything were to happen to either of us doing what we do, the entire operation would possibly fall apart. There have been tough times that mostly worked out ok thanks to good people and a little luck. I'ts true about how you go through life and the realize everything you thought you knew was mostly untrue but that time is gone and there isn't a lot you can do about it.

So, for us, the movie was a very good matter of fact no bull**** kind of movie. It certainly wasn't remotely close to the worst movie I've ever seen and we went into it having had folks tell us how terrible it was and how it wasn't worth 1 star….still liked it. Not overly exciting. Not glamourous.

I genuinely think that for a lot of folks this movie just isn't going to resonate. There is a bit of esoteric value and life experience required to make this movie more than a movie. I think that if I wait another 40 years to watch it, it will probably be even more relevant. As it stands I "get" the movie and liked it for what it was.

Think Clint may have to hang it up. That said I think this production is open for an HBO series with the Eastwood character moving on.
