I would like to see Hollywood start depicting movies the way they would happen in real life.

For example, have a story of young kid, fresh out of college, who spends his whole life at work. Through his hard work he moves up the corporate ladder and becomes CEO of major company, but he misses the birth of his child because he's staying late at work to ensure a deal gets done. He misses his daughters first steps because he's got an important product launch. Then he develops a rare cancer. His family rarely comes to visit, but while he's in the hospital he befriends another man with the same cancer. This man, though, has his family come every day. As the other man is dying, his grand kids hug him, and tell him how much they love him, and the main character has an epiphany. All that time he spent at the office was totally worth it, because the billions of dollars he made are now paying for his experimental treatments that keep him alive for another two decades, while the poor family man lies dead in the bed next to him.

Maybe have a B plot about the man's daughter, who is struggling through high school. She gets in trouble a lot, and eventually ends up with a drug problem. She starts dealing in petty crime, and eventually a judge orders her to see a psychiatrist. In a tearful scene, she goes to see the psychiatrist who helps her realize she's really reaching out for her absent father's attention. To this, the daughter replies, "F that. I'd rather have billions of dollars than an attentive father." Then she goes out and hires a dream team of defense lawyers, and gets her conviction over turned. She gets tons of plastic surgery and makes millions of her own by becoming a social media influencer.

That's not very far off from the plot of Click to be perfectly honest.

Another plot I'd like to see:

A young inner city kid is a star athlete, but he struggles in school. His teachers have always let him slip by because of his amazing athletic ability on the basketball court. Finally, his senior year of school, he gets a young teacher who is making a difference in the lives of her students. The week before the championship game, he finds out he's failing and has to pass her class or he won't be able to play. She works hard with the student, but the final test comes and he fails by one question. He breaks down because he has disappointed her, and she decides to give him one last chance for extra credit, he just has to study and show he is willing to learn. Just then the head basketball coach and principal come in and tell the teacher they're changing the kids grade because he is needed in the championship game. The kid slaps the teacher on the ass, and goes out and score 60 as the team wins the championship. Then the kid drops out of school and gets drafted #1 overall by the NBA and signs a $50 million contract.

If movies had realistic plots, we'd never get another girl action/spy/badass movie like Atomic Blonde or Ava. The agency would send her out on a mission, she'd try to to do a hurricanrana on a dude who would just catch her and smash her head into a brick wall.

"F- One joke premise. Come back when you have more than 5 minutes of plot."

I like thinking about how many old movies could be solved by simply having a little bit of modern technology. The entire plot would be foiled by a simple cell phone.

The two having the conversation would each say bye 2 or 3 times trying to avoid being the first one to hang up

Good guys would die more, rich *******s would win more, relationships would crumble more, eco warriors would be pointless, animals wouldn't save the day, etc etc etc. No justice, no fun, no good feelings.

That is the reason why we watch FAKE movies.

Fun fact: a good friend's girlfriend broke up with him and started dating the writer of the The Break Up right as The Break Up came out. So it was *especially* on point for him.

Movies with unexpected, non-happy endings. They tend to piss people off but can be memorable and disturbing.
