Man, you always wonder what kind of a dark place a man's mind must take him for him to consider shooting himself to death.

I guess for some it's physical health issues, and for others it must be strong mental and emotional pain. I have no idea other than I hope it's a place I never visit.

A few of my other favorite country artists followed the same path including Gary Stewart and Mel Street. I believe Faron Young did as well.

It's always the great ones that end up taking their own lives. I absolutely love Gary Stewart. I was supposed to see him at Billy Bobs but his wife passed away a few days before the show and it was canceled. I never got another chance to see him in concert as he shot himself soon after his wife passed away.

Though Keith Whitley didn't shoot himself like some of the greats already mentioned it could be said that he committed suicide via the bottle as he drank himself to death. His BAC from the autopsy was .47. That's insane amount of booze.
