I saw someone mention the fact that Kate Mckinnon is still part of the cast and is just excused to be filming a show right now. The question is : should she even come back? Letting new people shine feels like the show is fresher than previous seasons

I think the current cast is one of the best since the days of Hader/Wiig.

They are cutting their skits, and then leaving in the one about hip hop dancing... the behind the scenes politics of SNL are crazy.

Yeah, that was rough. Not a great episode overall, IMO.

I don't understand the love for Kate McKinnon. I feel like she's a very average cast member, but people go nuts for her. It could be because I associate her with the last 10 years of awfulness, but the show was noticably worse in the episode she returned.

I think it's a couple things.
First, she is obviously a very funny person, but I think she has suffered from her own success.
She has essentially turned every character she play into one of two thing, the wild crazy eyes or the kind of gross/redneck. I get why someone would do that, as once the SNL audience likes something they basically always like it. (at least the modern audience is like that)

Then the show suffers, because if she is on it, they are going to want to try to feature her in as many skits as they can.

I know SNL has always repeated characters/skits to an extent, but it does feel like it has gotten to be too much. I also feel like its starting to have a few too many pre-filmed videos playing every episode. Pete Davidson is also not good enough to be given the Lonely Island treatment.

He's another one I don't get. I think he is basically just being himself in everything. Although, I will give him credit. Even though I don't understand it, whatever he is doing clearly works with smoking hot celebrity women.

Will Forte is a genius

I will have to go back and watch the skits before the first Maneskin performance. Was watching the Xgames before I realized Will was the host

Was thinking it would be a strong episode with Will Forte, but it was pretty forgettable.
