Saw all this smoke about YTTV vs. NBC regarding channels and streaming and $$$.

Is this all coming to a head because of NBC and Peacock? Looks like the end game is just going to be people keeping YTTV, which apparently may reduce price $10 if channels drop (sarcasm…yea right), and then just having to pay $5-$10 on Peacock?

**** Peacock. They are drowning. Their numbers are legendarily bad in the streaming world. They will capitulate.

I only have peacock because it is included with my internet plan. I occasionally throw it on for soccer, indycar, and to catch some of a WWE PPV but I never go there to watch shows and wouldnt pay for the service if it wasnt included.

I am waiting for Peacock to die and for the Office to return to a streaming platform I already have.

I can't think of a single show on Peacock. The problem they are going to have is being the last to the streaming party. I'm all full up and don't need/want another service and I really don't care what content they might have.

I already have analysis paralysis with everything else available.

I subscribe to YTTV during football season, mostly for CFB. ESPN/CBS cover all our games, so I will absolutely not miss NBC. Give me my $10/month back. There are a few NFL games I might miss because of this, but that's an afterthought. I really think they're overestimating their worth.

Yep, they will capitulate. It's like the little stubborn child who gets beat in the big playground football game so he takes the ball home so no one can play. Come tomorrow when he realizes he wants to play again, he shall return to that playground with his ball and hat in hand. Just wait em out and trust that we know who we are dealing with. A petulant child.

Honestly this goes for all the individual channels that have decided they need their own streaming service. Peacock, Paramount+, Discovery+, AMC+. They're just so late to the party that nobody wants to pay for more.

Everyone typically already has some form of service via Netflix, Hulu, YTTV, Disney+. No one is going for more than a couple usually

I already don't ever check Apple TV or Prime Video. I just completely forget that I even have them.

I will not pay for more than 2 streaming services at a time. If there is a show I really want to watch I either sign up for a free trial and binge or just borrow someone's log-in info. It has gotten out of control.

Apple has some legit good content.

But is there anything y'all are seeing with this particular case? Seems to me both NBC and Google are just playing chicken with each other since NBC has their own streaming service now.

I watched Bridesmaids on the free version of Peacock the other day. It was unedited with no ads. Not sure how they make money off that, but it was a good deal for me!

This is pretty much me.

There are several of the original premium movie channels that have streaming that I'm not sure how they are going to make it. It's not that they have bad content, but there has to be some losers, and they were pretty late to the streaming game or just aren't must have.

It seems like of those original premium movie channels, HBOMax is the only one I feel like will be around in a few years.

Not sure how many people have Starz, Showtime, Epix or Cinemax unless they have them as some add in to folk's All Everything package cable/sat service.

The channel I hate the most is discover+ - I hope they burn and fail miserably.

Having xfinity - which means peacock premium for free - and yttv- this will be a net gain for me. I get to keep all the content and get a cheaper cable bill.

What's strange is a lot of NBC stuff that was exclusively Peacock is on or coming to Netflix. Seinfeld, Saved by the Bell, etc.

We were paying $80 or whatever for YTTV and the only thing my wife watches is Dateline so we gave it up and got peacock for $5 a month or whatever it is. I actually prefer this arrangement because it is much cheaper, obviously. If we cant find something on netflix, prime or disney to watch, we dont need to be watching TV. I think my verizon account comes with a hulu account as well but i have never logged in. paralysis by analysis is absolutely correct. I have no idea how people keep up with all of the shows on different streaming platforms.

We only had peacock to see Yellowstone. Quickly lost interest once we caught up.

While I agree with the sentiment, at what point do we agree that it's YouTubeTV that is the problem here. Once or twice a year I get emails from YouTube telling me that they are having negotiating problems with some entity (NBC, Roku, etc.) but all they've ever done is increase the price of their service. This is bully tactics at its best and in the end, the consumer is the one who pays.

Anyone know the latest on this? Are we without NBC on YTTV? Only thing I really watch on YTTV is English soccer so this would suck.

WarnerMedia (HBOMax) is merging with Discovery so I'm thinking they will just merge the Discovery+ content into HBOMax. Granted Disney will be the sole owner of Hulu in 2 years or less and I don't see them merging that into Disney+

Now just have to resolve the Bally's Sports SW issue. Although Bally's is rumored to start their own sports app for $23 per month. Gtfoh.

It looks like Directv Stream has Bally Sports and AT&T Sports starting at their $84.99/month option. At that price, all you will be saving is the equipment rental and other fees from traditional cable and you have the option to cancel anytime.

Yup, they have owned ABC since the mid-90's. They also own Freeform, FX, FXX, National Geographic, and all the various Disney branded kid show channels.

Only a matter of time before hbomax is $20+
And with them not doing the same day movie releases next year - I'm not sure it's worth it

The Bally's issue is what turned me into searching for "alternative forms" of streaming that cost $0/month.

I think $23/month is a bit steep, but if it had every game for my team, I'd probably do it over sat/cable/YTTV, but now that a bunch of fans have been watching "alternative forms" of streaming for a season, I'm not sure they will get all those folks back.
