So just came out today on Apple TV movies. Was extremely entertaining IMO. Would recommend!

The wife and I saw it in the theater when it came out and both liked it. Fun time waster.
Crazy how fast movies come out these days. We say it in theatres in August
I hate to sound like an old, but I was surprised to hear as much cursing as I did in this movie (especially the Lord's name in vain).
I know, I know - I'm an old.
I've certainly said my fair share of cuss words, but to hear them almost forcibly shoved into a movie that will garner a lot of younger eyes, it seemed unnecessary/unneeded and it made me uncomfortable. It wasn't like the cuss words advanced the story or anything like that.

Agreed with the language. It wasn't terrible but more than I would have figured for a PG-13 movie. I really like this movie and would have loved to watch it with the kiddos, but this is why I screen them first.
As an adult, liked it. I have to admit, I love some Ryan Reynolds humor. Just wish it was a bit tamer so the whole family could enjoy.

I'm a lifetime gamer but still found it a bit cheesy, predictable, and honestly degrading to gamers. Painting them all as juvenile ugly trolls. There are plenty of people just like that but it was weird that the only real "good guy" is an AI.
I also thought the villain character was horribly written and acted.

The villain guy was Taika Watiti (sp?) who directed Thor Ragnarok and who played the voice of the rock character in that movie (forgot that characters name).
just hit Disney+ today. might watch it later.

They portrayed a lot of "cool" gamers like DanTDM and a few others just fine. Maybe just the weirdo Channing Tatum streamer character though.
I say this as somebody who is fairly harsh on gaming culture as it relates to the streaming personalities and the weird effects on kids (who also got a couple of wins in Fortnite today. bownanza is my jam.)
Watched this tonight, overall thought it was good.
The Star Wars, greatest American hero bit was the best for someone my age.
Nerd complaint on how servers actually work as far as taking one out, but minor quibble.
And the last 20 minutes or so have to some nice heart which rounded it out well.
RR movies seem to have a pretty common theme lately though, campy/sarcastic irony.

Watched this last night. Still trying to decide if I hated it or liked it. That is not a really fine line either. Just this movie could go either way. I am not down with the gaming world and this seemed like their wet dream. The antagonist was awful. As noted; there was way more cussing than I expected from something on disney plus. Don't feel I wasted my 2 hours, but certainly not my best use of them.
We enjoyed it. Agree that Taika's performance was disappointing.
Saw it in theaters. Waaaay too much language and adult talk for the kids that were in there. It was one of the only hyped movies out at the time.

I do wish that the entertainment industry would try to avoid using the Lord's name in vain. It's not that hard. I can deal with run-of-the-mill profanity but a GDit every few minutes really bothers me.
