I didn't realize this was a remake of a 2018 release until after I watched it, so I went in having no idea what I was going to watch. JG plays an LA police dispatcher during some massive Cali fires, dealing with an active abduction situation that keeps getting more and more complex (and mostly because he's playing a hothead cop with a lot of personal issues).

Jake crushes this role, and it's a good thing because the camera is on his face about 95% of the movie. Think "Phone Booth" / "Rear Window". Pretty dark and unpredictable. Some of the voice acting (particularly the kid) was cringey but overall thought it was a pretty dang good movie.

Anyone else watch it yet?

He does a great job, but I thought the movie was just ok. Like 4/10 waste of time. Just my opinion.

He was really good but I didn't know the whole movie was in one setting. How does Netflix crush on their tv series but wreak at their movies?

Just a guess…the movie originally would've shown all the stuff going on outside of the 911 office but audibled due to covid. I thought "this is a Covid movie" while watching. I agree with your overall premise though.

Also agree that Jake G does his usual thing but the movie was just alright

Watched today. It was okay.

This movie reminded me a lot of The Call (2013) with Halle Berry; she plays the dispatcher. It's the same plot basically but the nuances are different.

I didn't like the single setting of the film, but makes sense if it's a Covid movie.

I'm not sure about "best", but I recently watched Nightcrawler and it opened my eyes to just how great an actor he can be.

Same, but I might give it a 6. Kept waiting for him to finally leave the dispatch center and/or for there to be a huge plot twist (there was, kinda, but I was expecting something bigger).

i'd say in a general sense it was alright but it's one of the better straight to streaming movies i've seen in a good while.

but also, i'm a homer for JG and Antoine Fuqua.

Watched it Monday. It was ok. A lot better than you'd expect for a movie where so basically see one guy in a call center the whole time.

We probably wouldn't have watched it if we realized it was essentially a camera on him 99% of the time.

Having said that, it was entertaining. Took about 15 or 20 minutes before we realized it wasn't going to leave the building. A little intense as something to watch before goign to bed during the middle of the week, but not bad.

Saw it, loved it because of how intense JG delivers in his roles.

Y'all must be on another level with emotions, bc I just finished it and I can't see how I'm going to sleep anytime soon.

It was entertaining. My wife loved it. I would give it a 6. I figured out the plot twist about halfway through. It was solid, but nothing special. I would probably be disappointed if I watched it at the theaters, but at home on a Saturday night it was good.
