Just finished the midseason finale.
Last two episodes were the best the show has been since THAT episode in Season 6 or 7.

I gave up 2 seasons ago. Thought I'd stay until end but just lost interest. I might try to binge them to catch up for final season.

Same here. Was really excited to see it was ending.

I still watch it and have from the beginning and I still like it although I'm glad it's finally ending. Yes the show lulled some in the middle but it's always been pretty entertaining to me although it's never been as good as it was those first few seasons. But I still like it and agree the most recent episodes have been tense and pretty good. Hope there's a really cool ending and maybe Rick comes back near the end.

But yeah the writing is pretty bad at this point. I still enjoy Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, and like how they've redeemed him somewhat. The comic book version of Negan was great for an episode or two, but him being the "big bad" got so boring and there was very little they could do with him. I like the more humanized and sarcastic Negan than 'bash everyone's head in' Negan.

I hope Rick is brought back for the final episodes. I know they talked about making a couple stand-alone films with Rick's story after he got taken away...but I don't know how they're going to fit that in if they're finishing the show. I hope they find a way to give it a good send-off.

I was also following 'Fear The Walking Dead' after they flipped the format with moving Morgan over to the show. For a while it was really fun. They were making it into a legit Western, and setting it in Texas was kind of cool. But then one of the best characters (John the gun slinger) left the show, and they really went off the rails with the whole "nuclear submarine" plot to end this past season. I mean, they truly jumped the shark with that.

Watched the show religiously for years until the episode when Rick finally caught Negan and then didn't kill him. I was done after that. Should've quit long before that because it had already gotten pretty bad.

Last episode I saw was when Carl was shot in the face. Haven't thought about it much since. Sounds like I made a good choice.

Never watched past the tiger. The show got boring after season 3 IMO. To be fair, I had read pretty far ahead, and I didn't like the direction of the story then either.

Did they do a storyline after the first season of figuring out what caused the outbreak?

The only reason that i stuck with it through that terrible season was that they kept teasing that a major character would be offed in the finale. And then they had the audacity to end the season on a cliffhanger and not even reveal who it was.

I was wondering how FTWD was doing. I hadn't watched the past two season but thought about picking it up. Sounds like I shouldn't invest the time.

I gave up on TWD 2 seasons ago as well and don't plan on picking it back up. I may find the Negan episode and watch it because I heard it was really good.

The Negan origin story was excellent! That's the only episode that saved last season for me. The other episodes were just tedious.

The rest of the series, I don't get the point that they are heading toward. It really boils down to a never ending struggle between not so bad people and really bad people. Considering they are about 6-8 years into the apocalypse, it seems like the survivors would have been a lot farther along in re-establishing a more decent civilization by now. But, even the new "advanced" colonies, like the CRM, seem to be just a clean and modern facade with more really bad people. I was hoping by the end of the series, they would finally find a "cure" for the Zombie virus, but it certainly doesn't look like it's trending that way.

I really tried, but Season 7 (maybe 8?) was when I just couldn't take it anymore.

Original hanging in to the end...tried to binge fear and quickly realized that's incredibly rough...world beyond was near garbage

Still going strong. Got much better after season 7 &8. Seasons 9 to the current are a lot better.

I'm still watching for the same reason as most of yall, just to see how they end it finally. I've been watching the entire time and I still don't know half of the current characters' names as I just don't care about them. It has been a better show to watch the past season, but its still nothing that you would tell your friends "you have to see this."

I'm guessing the Rick movies got scrapped due to COVID and I'm assuming AMC seeing the tanked ratings for all of their Walking Dead shows. I hope he re-appears soon just to spice up the end.

I stopped watching when Negan showed up in Rick's hood and there was a tiger? I think that was like 4-5 seasons ago.

Haha, true. From a biological perspective, you have to have a WHOLE lot of credulity to accept even the most remote possibility of Zombies. Dead cells re-animate yet continue to decay at a slower pace. Decaying bodies still need to "eat" yet have no digestive process (I haven't seen piles of Zombie excrement anywhere on the show). Though they have withered musculature, they are still mechanically ambulatory and strong and can overpower a live human.

Of course, like you said, it's fiction. Same can be said of most of the beloved sci-fi franchises we get so invested in.

Yep. Still watching but only because I feel like I have to see it through.

I'm always angry after watching thinking "wow that sucked" at every episode.

It's like going through chemo again. Counting down how many more infusions are left, and then I can celebrate.

I quit years ago. Carl pissed me off one time too many.

Haven't kept up with either, but my neighbors will be in the new season of FTWD along with their cannon.
