I think Mel Brooks can still write some great material, especially given his age and DGAF attitude that may come with it, but I just can't get on board with the featured actors for this.
We're really going from Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn to Nick Kroll and Wanda Sykes. This sounds like they're basically going to be playing themselves injected into historical skits to provide snarky commentary. We'll be going from "It's good to be king" to "ZOMG LOOK HOW STUPID"

I hadn't really thought of the original movie for many years until recently when I found it on iTunes for $4.99, so I bought it and watched it again for the first time since probably 1982 when it aired on HBO or The Movie Channel. Laughed my ass off from beginning to end.

I'm not a fan of how this looks like a series of Drunk History or SNL skits all filmed on a 15 x 15 sound stage. There dont even seem to be many scenes where they even try to fake being outside.
Part I is now on Hulu.

Loved History of the World, Part 1.
After the first two episodes of Part 2, the only really funny part to me was the judges scoring of "Hitler on Ice". The French judge and the Polish judge, specifically.
I hope it gets better - still love Mel Brooks.

I laughed at the Jakass Rasputin sketh because it surprised me
Civil War was the only bit I looked forward to and it wasn't that great.

I watched one episode. turned it off. Next day I saw History of the World Part 1 is available so I watched it instead. I will from now on just pretend that part 2 doesn't exist.
I have enjoyed Part 2
The standup philosopher in me called bulls#%& halfway through the second episode.
I never really liked the first one, it's funnier to quote than actually watch.

Wow that was painful. We rewatched Part I a few days ago, and it was only slightly better.
