I like some of the music from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I never did the whole movie experience. I'm not even sure I've sat through the whole movie. When I was a teenager, it was billed as the having been running at the theater longer than any other movie. That was when people dressed up, presumably got high or drunk, and went to see it on weekends.

Anyways, it's streaming on Prime. Maybe I'll sit through it.

Is weird to know their is an Oscar winner in the original movie

Seeing RHPS live on a Saturday night is one of the most bizarre and hilariously fun activities out there. I don't know how easy it is to find anymore (even pre covid), but I'd recommend everyone see it once. The alternate lyrics / scripts that each crew has as they perform all the scenes in sync with the movie are hilarious.
Thanks and gig'em

I still know all the responses

Saw it a couple of years ago with mom friends who had never seen it before.

It's worth going to see a midnight showing with all the people dressed up, acting scenes out, throwing stuff, etc. The music is good for the most part, the movie is pretty bad, but it's a fun experience to do once.

Also the woman, Hilary, from Love It or List It on HGTV, is a character in RHPS.

Definitely an 80's participation movie. Watching it passively on TV is boring.

And a Tony winner.
And an Emmy winner.
And a Golden Globe winner.

For a film that didn't have much $$$ behind it or critical acclaim, it wound up having what would now be considered a fairly significant cast.

I had heard great things about the movie (cult classic, etc), so I decided to watch it for the first time a few months ago. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I was pretty sure I was watching the wrong movie/version.

Like GoAgs said it's only worth seeing at theater with people acting it out and crowd participation.

Any cast with Meat Loaf is pretty strong.

That's kind of the point.
It's sharknado from the 70's. It's also a gay iconic movie, with an actually decent soundtrack.
But the theater experience is what makes the movie.

The theater company here in Bryan did it several times for Halloween. Audience participation was highly encouraged.

Feel like it's getting an overly bad wrap. It's a b-movie musical celebrating b-movie sci-fi. It's supposed to be shlocky.

Time Warp
Science Fiction - Double Feature
I'm Going Home
Sweet Transvestite
Eddie

All great sing-a-longs.

Played at Northgate during the 70s and 80s at midnight.

You ain't trippin until you're trippin during RHPS.
