Incredible. And what a setting.

That was fantastic. Great set list, sounded perfect, the observatory was such a cool venue.

Only complaint was too much Oprah, but who cares. Can't wait to see her on tour somewhere this year.

I've been a fan since before she was really popular. Saw her in concert on election night 2016. Her talent is amazing, and she is really charming and funny. Definitely make it a bucket list item, if you've never seen her live.

I don't think she has any current plans to tour with this album. There are a couple of shows scheduled in London for next July. When I heard about them, I was so tempted to turn it into a trip.

I enjoyed the special, but I thought the editing was distracting. The scenes jumped around a lot, and I felt like they didn't stay on many of them long enough to really enjoy the picture/view. But that certainly didn't affect the music.

I watched for about 5 minutes mostly just to see her physical transformation. That setting was really cool.

And I'm continually blown away by her insane talking voice vs her singing voice. I swear to god she's doing a bit when she talks.

She'll be doing a residency in Vegas, then after that is over assume a nationwide tour. Assume Elton-esque with multiple nights in each city as they won't be be sticking her in a football/baseball stadium so they'll need multiple nights for capacity.
TXTransplant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh, heck…I sure hope so! I've never been to Vegas, but I'd go in a second to see her again. She's got a young son, so a residency makes sense.

She blamed the no tour for this album on Covid. Said she couldn't as long as that's still an issue.

Seriously…trolling a thread about Adele to call out the sincerity of another poster?

I guess it depends on when you consider she became really famous. I had been listening to her before she first appeared on SNL (2008) and 21 was released (2011). I had tickets to the show she was supposed to play at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. It was cancelled because she ended up having surgery on her vocal chords. I guess she was reasonably famous at that point, but the Pavilion is a small venue. The 2016 show was at the Toyota Center.

I saw her a few years ago at Staples Center. My wife scored amazing tickets. I honestly wasn't super excited, figured would be a pretty boring show. I was incorrect. She had two stages, one at center court and one at the end. We were on the aisle in between the two.

Here is one of the many pictures I got.

You were listening to her before most Americans. I looked up the dates and her debut album was released in US June 2008 and SNL was Oct 2008. Props for being an early adapter!

(FYI the Woodlands Pavilion is not a small venue. A lot of major acts book their shows there for Houston dates. It's not like you missed some intimate show at a small club.)

Yes, I'm familiar with the Pavilion. I live in The Woodlands.

It is small in terms of capacity, when considering covered seats. Only 6500 are covered - the remaining 10,000 are lawn seats. No way Adele would schedule another show there.

The Toyota Center has 19k+ actual seats. She sold out two shows there in 2016.

We get decent acts up here, but no one as popular as someone like her.

I'd say Maroon 5 is the most currently popular/famous act that's played at the pavilion in the last 5 years.

The woodlands pavillion holds 16,500, however only there are only 5-6,000 seats in front of the lawn so thats probably why people think its smaller venue despite it being the stop for all the large acts that do summer tours. Toyota Center can do up to 19,000 for concerts so both venues are going for the same tier of performer as far as ticket sales.

IDK, I don't feel like like the Pavilion gets the most popular acts. Maybe for country (IDK - I'm not a country fan), but I haven't been blown away by the selection for other music genres.

Those lawn seats are a crap shoot, too. It's a great venue when the weather is nice. Not so much when it isn't. If I'm going to see a bucket list show, I don't want to sit on the grass.

The acts are good, just not what I would call currently popular (the Dave Matthews of 2021 is very different from the Dave Matthews of 2000). Since Covid, the shows have been even more limited (no surprise there).

But I can also admit my taste in music is very eclectic, so who I think is "popular" may not be the norm.

The Pavilion definitely caters to the demographic here - it does attract a lot of performers who hit their prime in the 80s and 90s.

Arenas get the AAA talent over pavilions/sheds.

That's not to say AAA talent wont ever play at pavilions, but it's usually after doing arenas. Most of it is simply contractual on who is going to be on LiveNation's "season".

I'm probably dating myself too as I remember all the rock acts I wanted to see as a teen always being up at The Woodlands and having to convince my parents that it was ok for me to drive an hour and a half to go to a concert. Ive definitely been to more shows at Toyota Center than the Woodlands in more recent years.

Plenty of us were listening to Adele before she became popular in the US - although very few, if any, posters here.

She is originally from the UK and had a great deal of success there. It isn't really that difficult to follow trends and up-and-coming artists. Music has been a global industry for quite some time - although one certainly wouldn't understand that if they only read the Enertainment board.

Redstone, sounds like you definitely have your finger on the pulse of up and coming music. Who is the next big thing we should start listening to now before they become huge?

I am a fan of adele, and all truly elite female vocalists. Just the pinnacle for me.

Adele is an elite songwriter and voice.

That said, i stumbled on this 15 year old norwegian phenom that….sings adele better than adele….? Certainly richer tone, maybe not as piercing high range

Anyway, friend sent me this play list so enjoy something different if you like.

I thought the setting and the staging were absolutely stunning. Totally makes me want to go to Griffith next time I'm in LA.

Now we can all say we were listening to Angelina Jordan before she was huge. Of course I'm sure there are those on this thread who have already been listening to and following her for years now.

Jordan is well know to the YouTube audiophiliac community.

It's good her videos appeared on this thread at present, however, because she has yet to be heard by a broad audience.

Post a YouTube of your favorite up and coming artist that you feel posters on the Entertainment board probably haven't heard of.

Funny you mention this.

Bought tickets a few days ago for one of these concerts at Hyde Park. We were going to be in the UK at that time for a planned trip anyway, thought I would surprise my wife the day of the concert by just showing up at the park.

We will actually be seeing the Foo Fighters a few days before at London Stadium. This one my wife knows about.

Hopefully travel loosens up even more by next summer, or at least the process doesn't regress from where it currently is.
