I've never read the books, but I remember how pissed everyone was when Cruise basically cast himself in the role, one that was apparently meant to be a far more hulking figure. Well, they finally got the character's size right, and while this does feel just a tad cheap and bargain bin-ish, it also admittedly looks like a relatively fun show? We'll find out soon enough...

Yeah, this is based on Killing Floor, but seems a little PG version, and the first movie was based on One Shot. Of course for commercials they have to keep it clean, but I already like it more than the stupid movies. And these are very formulaic in that Reacher kicks a lot of people's butts, kills a few more, then is 50/50 on hooking up with the girl, but they're fun and easy reads.

At first, I thought the lead was Tom Hopper from Black Sails and Umbrella Academy but IMDb says it's the guy who played Hank/Hawk in Titans. He's a bit charismatic and likeable so I'll definitely give this a try.

Thad from Blue Mountain State grew up! Guess he doesn't need the pocket p@$&y anymore.

Now THAT is a true Jack Reacher.

My dad used to say that he imagined Reacher looked like Ray Childress.

I haven't read the books and like the Cruise movies (though I get the beef with them) but I think I might be into this. Looks like not a ton of commitment or brain power needed.

Man, streaming really is the future.

He nailed the "so straight he's gay" guy that is in college male organization.

I can see that. But that's sort of difficult not to do because a lot of the same basic scenes happen in all the books. He's a nomad who likes to eat in cheap diners and has a witty encounter with some local tough guys he pisses off at some point, manages to get arrested but released because of lack of evidence or it was self defense and/or they find out about his military record.

As another poster says the books became pretty formulaic, though I think the first few weren't quite as much.

My two favorite are Killing Floor the first book, which this one is based on, and Trip Wire which I think is the third. I think Trip Wire had the best villain in the series. I definitely liked the earlier books better but I still get and read each one.

Hopefully this turns out decent.

Lol. Yeah, I've read three of the books and they all contain the same dozen cliche scenes or conversations. Him being enormous is a big time plot device, but somehow he's always able to kill dozens of people in some small circle and then slip away down the road to do it again in the next one.

Ha, just remembered that I worked with the lead, Alan Ritchson, on a Brett Favre Wrangler commercial years and years ago...
