On one hand, Kevin's parents don't feed him, make him sleep in the attic, and then leave him home alone while they party in first class.

On the other hand, Kevin's uncle verbally abuses kids, shows no sympathy when Kevin is lost, and is just an all around dick.

In general, he's got a really crappy family and CPS should probably take him.

Kevin's uncle is terrible. And Kevin barely does anything and everyone hates him. Nobody sees through Buzz's bs. This has always drove me crazy.

What's the debate, which is better? Personally I prefer 2 because it's my earliest memory of seeing a movie in the theater and I have more nostalgia towards that one.

To answer the OP, Kevin's parents aren't that bad of people. They made a mistake and their kid was being a little bratty when they were dealing with a houseful of mooches.

Kevin's uncle is a bum that can't even pay for his own vacation, that picks on a little kid. He undoubtedly is the worst person in the films.
