Anyone watching this? Looks pretty intriguing. I watched episode one and thought it was good.

Basically a post-apocalyptic series that focuses more on the years following the collapse of civilization and not so much on the event itself.

Has kind of a Fallout / Far Cry 5 vibe with someone who takes a Christ-like role.

I've heard the book is phenomenal.

I've enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Not sure if it is a brighter take on a post apocalyptic world or if it is just stage setting.

Don't have HBO, so I'm not watching. But I did like the book a lot.
For being a short book, it was filled with quotes that have stuck with me.

"Hell is the absence of the people you long for."
"Survival is insufficient."
"First we only want to be seen, but once we're seen, that's not enough anymore. After that, we want to be remembered."
"What I mean to say is, the more you remember, the more you've lost."
"They spend all their lives waiting for their lives to begin."

I read the book and it seems to be a pretty faithful adaptation as far as focusing on characters, themes, and ideas above plot and good-guys v. bad-guys. That latter stuff is present, but I do think the people running the show appear to have a done a good job of making this a very different take on the dystopian setting. Given how rampant dystopian stuff has been lately, this is a breath of fresh air for me.
