It was better times in 1984

Armie Hammer - obvious connection to Armand Hammer and Occidental Petroleum.
Similar for Julia Louis Dreyfus and the Louis Dreyfus shipping conglomerate.
On the Season 9 bonus materials DVD for Seinfeld, there is a portion where they ask some if the cast members whether they were ready to end the show.
Jerry was ready. He had been starring in season and writing in the off-season to get ready for the next season. Many other cast members seem to think the show could have kept going.
Julia Louis Dreyfus made some comment about "it would have really benefited us financially to keep going…"
Good grief. Besides the large per-episode salary the four main cast members were getting the last few seasons, her family is freaking loaded. She wasn't born with a silver spoon. She was born with a diamond-encrusted silver spoon.

I once read something where Jerry later said they should have kept going because after the show they basically weren't really doing anything.
Wasn't the case eventually, of course.

My MIL's grandfather (don't recall if biological or step) was some actor from back in the day out of California named Curly. The last name is escaping right now at 4am.

Let me find out. I just know it's Curly and he was an actor in California but don't remember the last name. I know it isn't the same last name as my MIL's maiden name/her mom's last name.maroon barchetta said:Harry Lime said:Howard?GT_Aggie2015 said:

The Jared Padalecki post reminded me that my mom is a distant cousin to Lee Horsley, who had a tv series about a detective named Matt Houston back in the 80's.

Does Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Jimmy Swaggart being cousins fit the theme of this thread?

Anyone remember these guys?! Joe Stampley is my mom's uncle, so no clue what that makes us.

Thought this might be interesting.
I went down one of the million rabbit holes I seemingly go down daily, and discovered that Olivia Newton John's grandfather won the Nobel prize for physics, he was one of the early people in quantum mechanics. And then her dad worked for MI5 in WW2, and is supposedly the guy that arrested Rudolph Hess when he made it to Great Britain. And her sister was married to Jeff Conway as well. Plus she had a boyfriend go missing and was never found. Many think he faked his death.
So that is a lot for one person, it I'm sure there's lots of other good stories out there.

Pulling this back for one I found tonight,
Christopher Lloyd's grandfather was one of the founders of Texaco. If I had to guess which celeb had Texaco connections, he might not have been in the top 500.

I would imagine there is a very high correlation in actors/actresses coming from a prosperous family. The bootstrappers tend to rise up through the comedy ranks.
my point is to get into the arts like acting it helps to have financial backing behind you. Which is why your see a lot of actors with wealthy families.maroon barchetta said:Ragoo said:

Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Mara Rooney
Kate Mara
Families are above top 1% rich
Maya Rudolph and Gwyneth Paltrow attended the same private school in NYC together. Probably didn't go the bootstraps route
Plenty of others - Jolie, Clooney, etc.
