My wife (ER doc) saw the autopsy report and said it doesn't pass the smell test. There's no way he had all those fractures, thought nothing of it, and went to bed unless he was high as a kite.

It's all over because it was shocking. The only people that care about seeing pictures are nosey.

Almost everyone will move on to something else next week.

I don't mean the death itself.. I mean then news of this lawsuit.

If it's just to suppress photos, then that wouldn't hurt his legacy. If it's to suppress the official report in total then it would. People would assume there was something shady or embarrassing in there. Even if there wasn't.

To make sure people don't spread BS rumors about their loved one.

You can wish all day long that people would just let it go, but plenty won't.

(They should absolutely do whatever they can to suppress photos. Screw any sickos who want to see that.)

Again, I would absolutely fight to suppress photos.

And if my loved one died I wouldn't want people accusing him/her of something embarrassing. And I surely wouldn't want to fuel the fire by suppressing the report (excluding photos). If I could dispel it by releasing the written part of the report then I would.

I'm not giving them advice. It's not like they are reading TexAgs. I'm just opining on their curios decision.

BTW, if they don't release it now, and then a bunch of sickos demand it get released after, then I would REFUSE to release it for as long as I live just to piss the sickos off. Never give in to terrorism, as far as I'm concerned.

They may not even know that any theories exist other than an accidental death. I doubt they are reading the internet for what people are saying about it. I sure as hell wouldn't if I were in their shoes.

Posted this on another thread, cross-posting here.

He had a basilar skull fracture. The injuries are consistent with a basilar skull fracture, even the injuries to the front of the face.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470175/

Quote:

Basilar skull fractures most commonly involve the temporal bones but may also involve the occipital, sphenoid, ethmoid, and orbital plate of the frontal bone.

Quote:

Battle sign (retroauricular or mastoid ecchymosis), and raccoon eyes (periorbital ecchymosis). Basilar skull fractures are commonly associated with facial fractures, cervical spine injury, intracranial hemorrhage, cranial nerve injury, vascular injury, and meningitis.

The frontal injuries and especially the ecchymosis around the eyes are consistent with a blow to the back of the head. The article goes on to say that falls can be a cause of this type of trauma. And no, it doesn't take a 30 foot fall.

I understand that some random doctor who's not even a forensic pathologist was interviewed by some news media outlets and is claiming those injuries would be consistent with a fall from a great distance, but there's a reason he does what he does and forensic pathologists do what they do.

The photographs at the scene are going to show him in a very bad state, with bruises around both eyes and possibly have the appearance he was beaten up. No need to release those images to the public and have a bunch of idiots on Reddit (who think they are medical experts because they have access to Google) start talking about conspiracies.

Extremely extensive skull fracturing, not consistent with a typical slip and fall

The injury pattern is consistent with a slip and fall. There is a single contusion externally on the back of the head with a basilar skull fracture which can frequently be seen with slip and falls in the elderly. There is contrecoup contusion of the brain present that is typically seen with falls. Bilateral subdural hematomas are also common among falls in the elderly. The ocular fractures are consistent with increased intracranial pressure seen with significant intracranial bleeding, which is a rare finding, but is known to happen. I really don't see anything to make me suspect foul play based on the autopsy report.
Fracture of the superior orbit is NOT common even in severe trauma. If there is pressure to the anterior or posterior orbit, the floor is the first to break. This is highly unusual.

I stated it was rare to have these orbital fracture patterns, but again, not unheard of.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352644017300523

The alternative is that someone somehow was able to cause bilateral superior orbital fractures without leaving any evidence of trauma to the external forehead…which would be a much more uncommon finding.

Regardless, neither of us are pathologists, so I will differ to what the actual expert's opinion is.

My point was the injury is not consistent with a typical slip and fall, which you seemed to take issue with. But i guess now we agree that the extent of the injury is rare for a slip and fall.

I took issue with "not consistent with a typical slip and fall", because that implies that it is consistent with some other mechanism of injury. Just because a finding is rare for a mechanism of injury does not mean it is not consistent with said mechanism of injury. The injury pattern is all consistent with a slip and fall.
