TCTTS usually posts this but in talking to him in another thread it sounded like he was behind and wouldn't be getting around to ranking things for a while. So with that said, post your favorite Top 10 or 15 or whatever in 2021. If that's 10 movies, 10 shows, 10 albums, etc. go for it. If you want to rank 7 movies, 2 tv shows, and a video game cut scene. Go for it. It's your world man.

Here is 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017 in case you want to look back on what people have said in the past.

Movies
So, here's my (always changing) rankings for movies I saw in 2021.

Still a lot I'd like to see (Licorice Pizza, Last Night in SoHo, French Dispatch, etc.)

Television
I'm way behind on TV this year. But I've seen enough to build a Top 10 I think.

1. Succession Season 3
2. Loki
3. Ted Lasso Season 2
4. Wandavision
5. The Great Season 2
6. The Expanse (2nd Half of S5 and 1st Half of S6)
7. Invincible
8. I Think You Should Leave Season 2
9. Only Murders in the Building
10. The Witcher Season 2

I haven't finished or started a lot of stuff like Hawkeye, What We Do In the Shadows S3, Doom Patrol S3, Reservation Dogs, Squid Game, Mare of Easttown, latest season of Yellowstone or it's prequel series, etc.

Like I said, way behind on TV.

What did you enjoy most in 2021?

Holy crap, Wandavision was in 2021. It honestly feels like years ago at this point.

I gotta take a look at everything I watched and will post mine tomorrow.

I felt the same about Cruella...felt like that fun, loving, Dalmatian obsessed lady came out in 2020 or even 2019.
Bruce Almighty

I don't think I saw 10 movies in 2021, but of those I saw,

1. Zach Snyder's Justice League
2. Dune
3. No Time To Die
4. Spider-Man: No Way Home
5. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
6. Godzilla Versus Kong
7. Black Widow

Best TV,

1. Hawkeye
2. Wandavision
3. Loki
4. Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Edit - maybe the memory isn't what it once was or these movies just weren't that memorable, but I did watch Cruella and Reminiscence, saw Matrix Resurrections (dog crap), and watched Mare of Easttown (really good). Also watched The Suicide Squad (disappointing) and Being the Ricardos (good). I guess I did see 10 movies this year. Didn't rank What-If? even though I watched it because it was a big bunch of meh.

Almost certainly would be but I still haven't seen that or Ridley's other '21 flick House of Gucci. The 25 on that list are all the movies I've seen in 2021. First to last.

Harder they Fall is on my list as well, as is Old Henry which seems to be a more traditional western from '21 getting positive reviews.

Was going to do a consolidated list, but quickly realized I had to split up films and TV. (Mostly due to TV.)

Movies:

1. Spider-Man: No Way Home -- The fact that my expectations were so high, and it managed to exceed them, is reason enough to earn the #1 spot.
2. Dune
3. Zack Snyder's Justice League -- It's beyond me that they had THIS movie, but brought in Whedon to make the garbage we got.
4. No Time To Die
5. Free Guy -- This movie was such a pleasant surprise. I went in with zero expectations and saw it in theaters only because I'd just renewed my A-List and it was the only thing playing in theaters. Glad I did. So much fun the whole way through. Sad to say this is basically a more fun version of The Matrix Resurrections.
6. Eternals -- Really don't get the hate.
7. Halloween Kills -- There were things I really didn't like in this movie, but as a massive Halloween fan, it did a lot more right than it did wrong.
8. Shang Chi
9. Don't Look Up -- Also don't get the hate.
10. Malignant -- Holy hell, this movie is a ride. I watched it blind with no knowledge of the plot, and this is the only way to watch this imo.

Some honorable mentions: Black Widow, Jungle Cruise, and The King's Man (I had zero expectations for any of these 3 and was pleasantly surprised on all counts.)

TV:

1. Succession -- Simply the best television show currently on tv, and it somehow keeps improving. The finale of S3 is up there with the second half of NWH as the best hour of entertainment I saw in 2021. Incredible writing and acting.
2. Cobra Kai -- It's been so long since January that I almost forgot S3 was in 2021. This show continues to be one of the most fun things to watch in all of entertainment. It should NOT work this well, and yet it does. Season 3 was probably the best so far. (Haven't seen S4 yet, and I can't wait to start.)
3. Mare of Easttown -- Kate Winslet's performance alone puts this in my top 5.
4. Squid Game -- Watched this just to see what the hype was about and was blown away by how great the performances were. The acting sold the ridiculous premise for me.
5. Wandavision -- Slow start but a hell of a final stretch. Both Olsen and Hahn were fantastic. Loved the mystery of it in the first half of the season.
6. Loki -- VERY close behind Wanda.
7. Midnight Mass -- It may not be Flanagan's best, but it's a show that gets better the more I think about it, and I think will age very well. Great performances and phenomenal writing. (Sans a few monologues that went a little too long.)
8. Falcon & Winter Soldier -- I love when shows operate in shades of grey like this. (Same with Cobra Kai.)
9. White Lotus -- Hilarious
10. Only Murders In the Building

Not a single movie in the theater in 2021.

Have seen 2.2 movies in the OPs top list and none in the top 10….no clue what 5 even is.

I am a couple years behind as the last movie I saw was Joker on cable.

Good responses so far. Was a really good year for tv I think, particularly the MCU, but 2022 may just one up it. We'll see.

A lot of really good movies in 2021, but nothing that I would consider an all timer (although may change my mind on Dune once I can watch it and Part 2 back to back).

#5 on my list is Spencer, a movie about Princess Diana (Played by Kristen Stewart) and a Christmas weekend with the Royal Family right before her separation from Prince Charles. It's very artsy, a fictional retelling with a lot of creative license, but I thought it was really good. It's essentially the old horror concept of "Girl trapped in a haunted house" but instead of ghosts or monsters it's her in-laws and the press and the pressures that come with them. I liked it a lot, but certainly wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

I watched it over a few nights at home. Kept starting it too late and falling asleep.

It's ok. Has some good parts. But it's no Endgame.

Locked Down??!! I won't argue, it's all subjective, to each their own and all that, but WOW. I tend to give a lot of movies the benefit of the doubt, but this is in my bottom 3-5 of all time. I just hated it SO much.

Haven't seen a couple popular movies (Belfast, C'Mon C'Mon, Spencer, Last Duel, Nine Days, No Sudden Moves etc.)

TV I don't watch a lot of series (other than Reality TV with my girlfriend) but
Invincible, Arcane, Yellowstone Season 4, Ted Lasso season 2, Loki, Wandavision we're some of my favorites (Book of Boba didn't get good until 2022 haha)
