Arlen is obviously a composite of several typical texas suburbs. I think the consensus from hard-core KOTH fans is that it mostly resembles Garland/Richardson and Temple/Belton. I know Judge lived in the Canyon Creek neighborhood of Richardson right before he hit it big with Beavis and Butthead. He was also giving an interview on the ticket (dallas sports radio) several years back where he said he drew the inspiration for Hank's character after an encounter with a neighbor of his in Richardson.

My neighbors in Richardson definitely have homes very close in design to Hanks. Though his alley way is way wider than mine and paved

This is my opinion...but it's really bad.

Yah that first episode was pretty meh but I guess they had to get the backstories incorporated somehow.

And if this new series is primarily going to be about Hank struggling to fit back in a "changed world" I'm probably not going to last long.

Should have kept making the new Beavis and Buttheads. Those are gold.

They are. The new season comes out in a month or so.

My leader Billy Strings and company remade the theme song:

The third episode was decent at least. But the first 2 were pretty bad.

Hopefully the rest are as good or better than episode 3.

I watched 5 this morning/afternoon.
The was a couple of laughs- Hank has to do with being retired; yeah, I get it.
Apparently, all on the show are retired.

First episode was bad. The rest has been decent king of the hill content. I'm through 5 episodes.

Major complaints would be:

There is not enough Bobby overlap with the other characters. It's like Bobby's story and then hanks story and very little cross over between the two in many of the episodes.

No Kahn up to this point. He brought a lot of the contention to Hanks life and it'd be nice to have more of him.

And, LuAnne just continues to be missed. I'd love to see what she was up to in this world.

In one scene, there is a pic of LuAnne and Lucky and the baby :-)

In episode 2, there is a short cut of Running Down A Dream. Nice touch.

Ep 1 , first few minutes. Well, Bobby, you are a ****.

Watched the whole season today. It's fine. Not amazing, but not terrible. A few moments that made me laugh in each episode, but nothing super memorable either

Kahn's new voice actor is atrocious

Alright so I kept with it and am enjoying it a lot more now.

I'm part way through episode 3 and I think it's perfectly fine - the only thing I'm having a hard time adjusting to is the new Dale voice.

Other than that, it's a good 60-70% as good as the OG and that's more than enough for me.

I'm through the first 3 and not too bad. I always get a kick out of Texas references and it's low on the woke nonsense so far.

I know it's the wrong topic but Big Bang Theory , Young Sheldon and George's and Mandy's first marriage are packed with all things Texas including mentions of Aggies, Oilers and Cowboys.

First episode was pretty bad. Tried way too hard and the working was incredibly stiff. Everything seemed unnatural and forced.

If I saw right, the original voice actor, Johnny Hardwick, did the first several episodes before passing… I think he may have been having a rough time near the end.

Now that you say that it does ring a bell.

It's like it's 90% of the way there but then adds a nasally quality to it or something, so I could see it being the same voice actor in that instance.

King of the Hill expert Mariane (@kothtok) liked it. Will be binging it this week while the GF is out of town.

I really have enjoyed it so far 4 episodes in. 1st episode was a little rough sure, but damn the Bob's joke really got me.

I am really loving Bobby in this reboot, owning a Japanese Texas Hill Country German fusion restaurant is great and like his sous chef a lot. He has a lot of confidence I wouldn't have imagined and really like the change in his character.

I get the same grins I get when I watch the old stuff. Did love the call out to Cotton. Joseph being just paranoid as Dale and also thinking he is white was a great gag.

At first Dale's voice really threw me off and it bothered me to the point I wasn't enjoying the show.

First two episodes were just okay. Really picked up in the third.

Finally heard a classic Dale "shu-shu-sha" and got a good laugh. On episode 5 now and it's gotten a lot more enjoyable.

New animation style has grown on me too. Bobby's story has been fun.

Bill walking into the barbershop made this entire remake worth it for me.

Finished up. 10 episodes was way too short. Really enjoyed the last few episodes. Dale busting out sexy rat had me rolling.

I went into the 1st episode with a negative mindset after reading posts here. I liked it. I thought the moving to Saudi thing was a good way to set up the shock aspect of post covid America. Beavis and Butthead did via time travel, but that wouldn't have worked.

Agreed, brought back a flood of memories. Dale as paranoid as ever, Bill is still a damn wreck and Boomhauer....awesome as ever. I hope Mike Judge will make a few more episodes. I'm also the huge nerd who went to H-E-B and bought a couple of Alamo 6 packs.

They actually made 20 episodes, 10 to release now and 10 to release sometime in 2026.

This is an excellent remake

Why is John Redcon's voice actor laughably bad though?

Watched the first two episodes tonight and enjoyed them much more than I thought I would. The timeline doesn't make sense though. Peggy and Hank have been out of the country for an unspecified amount of time, but definitely pre Covid, yet Bobby is only 21. That means they would have left before he graduated high school.

maybe the show is set in 2022?

Google says it's set in 2025 but 8 years after the last season. I guess it's just typical non sensical cartoon aging.
