The casting and writing in this was phenomenal and as much as I liked the series the first time through, I didn't appreciate just how well they did finding great character actors to fill the smaller roles.

Margo Martindale nailed Mags Bennett. Growing up in East Texas, I knew a dozen old country women just like her (without the crime lord aspect)
Jere Burns as Wynn Duffy is one of my favorite side characters ever.
Jeremy Davies as Dickie Bennett
Damon Herriman as Dewey Crowe
I had totally forgot Stephen Root had a recurring spot as Judge Reardon

So many awesome one liners.

Oh, and Winona over Ava all day.

Probably my favorite show. I give it a rewatch every couple years. The dialogue is so good and funny.

The sheer juxtaposition of Jeremy Davies playing Dickie Bennett vs his role as Faraday in Lost is mind blowing and awesome by itself. Watched the two series back to back a few years ago and got a good laugh from that.

Yeah if you're a fan of The Ticket out of Dallas, the Easter eggs on the show take both up another notch. The way that writer would mix in Ticket one liners and character names was awesome.

I haven't gotten to that season yet but I remember him a bit from the first time through.

Michael Rapaport playing a redneck is one of the most ridiculous castings of all time. Mykelti Williamson is great as Limehouse. Neal McDonough as Quarles was pretty terrifying I thought. Wood Harris was in a few episodes as well. I'm sure I'm missing some other key guest spots.

In one of the early seasons you'll recognize Chadwick Boseman, I had to do a double take, but yea he had a guest spot.

It was a very progressive casting. Daryl Crowe is the future of Florida after decades of New Yorkers migrating there. The Brooklyn Redneck

Yeah I recognized him on this rewatch and he did a great job in that one role. I did a double take as well and caught it pretty quick.

He was awful but I did enjoy how he died greatly.

Well that may merit a rewatch to find it.

I think Rappaport asked to be on the show if I'm remembering correctly? Only excuse for a show that was some amazingly cast to end up with that dud of a performance.

With the Yellowstone and 1884 stuff going on, Sam Elliot has been seen around Fort Worth a lot lately and I've always said if I met him I'd tell him how terrifyingly creepy he looks without a mustache.

I really wish they had let Dewey Crowe survive to the end. He was more of a goof than a hardcore criminal or villain.

One of my all time favorite shows for sure. Made me love Olyphant.

And Michael Rappaport almost ruined the season he was in. Was absolutely horrible. Almost skipped the season last time I rewatched it.

The scenes with Raylon and Boyd on screen -- together, exchanging dialogue -- were as good as it gets.

As good as Brando and Pacino in The Godfather.

"We dug coal together."
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Where is the love for Elmore Leonard?

Most of the great dialogue and scenarios came from him, not Timothy Olyphant and Walter Groggins.
