I recently got back into listening to the "Fake Doctors, Real Friends" podcast and listened to "My Half-Acre", the episode where JD starts dating Julie (peak hotness Mandy Moore) while Turk joins Ted and the Janitor's air-band.
One of the most famous scenes from the show's history is his audition, set to Bell Biv Davoe's "Poison." On the podcast, Donald Faison revealed that
1) He didn't read the script that day
2) All he had been told when he got there was that he had to put a little dance routine together to the song
3) He showed up late to work that day because he had been out clubbing hard the night before, as it was very recently after his divorce had been finalized
4) This was the first and only take.
Also rather incredibly, until they shot the episode, he had never heard "More than a Feeling" by Boston, but he and the other 3 actors in the group listened to the song hundreds of times to get all their performances syncd for the ending montage.
