Saw this last night after seeing it on the Oscar nomination list and really enjoyed it. Didn't see a thread on it. If y'all are looking for a movie to watch this week, give it a shot.

Kinda reminded me of The Prestige in a way. It's pretty dark and keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat for most of the movie.

I assume you are referring me to the atmosphere. It's been on or near the top of my watch list, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Maybe this weekend.

One day we'll get a Big Daddy on tv or film, but sadly not in this...

Yeah just the Art Deco design, costumes, lighting, etc... Let me know if you agree when you watch it or if I'm just seeing things.

We caught it on HBO last weekend. It was okay, I guess.

It was neat stylistically and very niorish, but I found it predictable. No spoilers, but there is some heavy-handed foreshadowing that had me eye-rolling through most of it and it's about 30 minutes too long.

I enjoyed it as well. Not the horror/suspense/thriller the name or trailer would assume.
I'd call this Carney-noir. It's a new sub drama. They throw you into that works quickly with slang and carney life. Which I respect and appreciate.
