Wow. Can't believe there hasn't been a thread on this one yet. If there's a worse movie in 2022 I hope I don't watch it. Recovering from a surgery so watching anything and everything, but man - this was a "watch to see how bad it gets" from literally 45 seconds into the movie.

Highlights (lowlights):
+Totally unnecessary pop-culture backstories
+Stereotypical Texas jabs
+Victims you can't wait to watch die
+Chainsaw with unlimited gas
+Chainsaw attack surviving deuce ex-machina

How is it all of a sudden daytime at the end? Like they pushed the Chainsaw enthusiast into the flooded west Texas desert basement and then just chilled till 8 AM when they're ready to leave?

Calling it now, worst Netflix movie of 2022

Watched this weekend and was rooting for all the main characters to die within first five minutes of the movie. Can't tell if Netflix intentionally was clowning the young SJW crowd or if they actually thought that would play well with the older generation that grew up with the original

It sounds like this movie is self aware and not to be taken seriously

I think they did it on purpose so everyone could enjoy. I watched it this weekend and thought it was a lot of fun. It was a lot more entertaining than The Power of the Dog, that I assure you, nothing pretending to be high art in this film. The movie isn't even 90 minutes long, they get right to it, things go back quickly, and it's ridiculous. You can choose to root for whoever you wanted, the kids from Austin are so awful, a nice portrayal of their ilk. The very last scene of the movie I actually yelled out "Yes!"

In addition to OP's criticisms I will add they drove out to this town in a Tesla, and one of them said it took 7 hours to get there from Austin. I don't see there being many charging stations between Austin and Harlow if indeed it's that far away.

This movie is over the top, but it's fun, it's not trying to say anything about SJWs and hipsters other than they aren't immune to chainsaws.

Those annoying kids being murdered by a chainsaw is nothing compared to the blood in the streets we've seen from Texas open carry. The blood was so high on Friday I barely made it home from work.

I felt like it was making fun of clueless liberals.

I liked it, the kill in the police van was awesome and original. The bus scene was great and the ending was great.

I agree. I thought I'd hate it considering all I heard. What I got instead was a fast paced foray into the world of Leatherface. I thought it was fun and pretty even handed. It hit on obvious culture shocks between both Californians and Texans in pretty tasteful ways and we got some unique kills. It wasn't the original or even the second one. It didn't have some sweet Oingo Boingo but it was still great.
