I enjoyed this sequel to Vikings, thought they did a solid job, especially showing conflict of old and new religions.

Better or worse than original Vikings? I liked Vikings for 2-3 seasons but got repetitive and enjoyed Last Kingdom a lot more.

IMO, original Vikings way better. I, too, lost interest towards the end especially after they killed off Ragnar.

For this new series, watched first episode, and wasn't really impressed. Decided to check IMDB reviews to see what others thought, and many share the same sentiment. If you've nothing else to watch and want to "kill" some time, go for it. For me, I'll pass.

Only got through Ep 2 . Instead decided to do a 3rd watch through of Last Kingdom to cleanse my palette and prepare for season 5 next week.

Between GOT, Vikings and Last Kingdom I'd consider it the most consistent and has let me down the least ( albeit Alfred was amazing and his presence is missed) . Hopefully it goes out with a bang .

Agreed. I despised Alfred originally and then realized how amazing his character development really was. The acting through his death and passing was some of the best I've seen on a TV series ever. I watched one episode of Valhalla and thought it was pretty average.

What're the plans on the Last Kingdom? One more season? When?

I thought last kingdom could have ended after the third season and it would have been an amazing end. The final scenes between Uhtred and Alfred were really well done.

I haven't watched it yet, but this is the one that's supposed to span from the reign of Aethelred the Unready to the Norman Conquest, right?

I'll be waiting for the William the Conqueror season.

Not as good as the season with Ragnar but not as bad as the latter. I'll continue watching it cuz I like these shows.

I love this series, it's a lot easier to binge and hope it's picked up for a second season. I lost interest after the third season of Vikings and had to trudge through to the end. This is likely due to childhood learnings of Erik the Red and learning stories of Leif at a young age. It could be because of growing up among the Norse and St. Olaf's church outside of Clifton.

The struggle of understanding of Christianity vs the Vikings belief in multiple gods is engaging. I also think a good spinoff of the Shield Maidens would be a good watch. I am a sucker for period pieces and fairly open to any reiteration

enjoyable binge

not as good as early season vikings, but definitely better than the last few seasons. Obviously doesn't hold a candle to The Last Kingdom, but that new season hasn't dropped yet and I needed something to watch this weekend.

Spent a lot of time wondering if the sword Freydis gets was supposed to be Ragnar/Bjorn's "sword of kings". According to some reddit nerds it has a different hilt and runes, though, so maybe not. But I know they don't have the rights to the OG show so they might be treading the line and trying to imply that it is the same.

Emma was a boss, enjoyed watching her play her hand. And seeing Lief turn full berserker at the end was promising for future seasons.

I'm a sucker for semi-historical period pieces full of action like this so definitely hope it gets renewed. Excited to see where they take the story from here. I will say that I hope they end with Lief leaving on his explorations, rather than continuing to show the travels. I think the parts that stray too far from the action (Iceland w/Floki and exploring w/Ubba) were definitely some of the weakest parts of the original series.
